P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Since the latest update, choosing "Edit in Photoshop" in Lightroom Classic opens Photoshop (Beta), but does NOT open the image selected in Lightroom. I am running on a PC with Windows 11 and have the latest versions of Photoshop, Photoshop (Beta) and Lightroom Classic installed.

After several attemps at this in LR, I eventually get a series of error messages (attached) indicating that the image could not be opened in Photoshop, after which the image DOES open in PS. Each of the 2 messages appears multiple times, once for each time I attempted to open the image in PS.

Maybe the problem involves download the image from Dropbox cloud. It eventually loads.

I have the same problem, I am running Lightroom Classic 24.4 and recently did the photoshop 2023 update to v24.7, since the update photos will not open in photoshop from lightroom using the "edit in" tab.

Today I opened a wedding catalogue I needed to work on. Once I finish my LRC adjustments and right click to open in PS (beta) or (23) the only thing that is happenig is that Photoshop opens and sits there. I tried closing both, I switched settings from Beta to 23 as the designated version to open in and nothing. I created a brand new cat hoping this would help, nothing.

Earlier today I was getting this message agstoreprovidersession:getentitybyid: id must be a number or string.  but I don't even get that now.

Similar issue. I'm running on Mac Os Ventura 13.4. After upgrade fm Photoshop beta 24.7 to PTS beta 25, now I can not open my raw file (fujifilm RAF) fm Lightroom and edit in either Photoshop or Photoshop Beta. Both PTS and PTS beta do open but not the file, only open their home page.

Same Here. I have reinstalled both and it worked on 23 but Beta still comes up with an error in LR saying it cannot open Beta PS and opens it up after about 30s but any adjustments are not saved in the original folder...

Hi All

When I try and open an image from LR into PS my PS opens but the image doesnt.

I am working on a MAC MAX M1 chip, my OS is Ventura 13.4.1, my PS and LR are the latest version but I am not running the PS Beta but I do have it installed on my machine.

PS 24.7 LR 12.4.

Any ideas? I have tried restarting my laptop, both LR and PS also I have tried opening other images and none open but PS will open any images previously opened.

I am very new to mac, three weeks now so not shure where to look or what to do, actually never had this problem before from memory but thats not great these days.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

When taking an image from Lightrooom and asking to Edit In Photoshop Beta, Beta opens but the image won't open.  Needs some kind of fix as I can't update to 12.5 and had to revert to 12.4.7

Just updated Lightroom and Photoshop beta so the latest stuff here, always updated, before update no issues open my images in photoshop. it took seconds to open an image from lightroom to photoshop beta or any version of photoshop... Now !!!!! what has happened,,,,, Does not matter which version of photoshop i use be it beta or regular photoshop. but it is so so so so so slow to open between softwares, I get a notice in Lightroom saying we cannot open in Photoshop, then i click ok and then it opens after minutes,

Just updated it, worked perfectly yesterday before update, now you wonder should you be updating these software at all, as your work flow has just slowed way way down..

Anyone out there having the same issues ?

Opening a RAW from Ligthroom to Photoshop beta 25.0 for MacOS is impossible. The command does launch Photoshop beta, but
- in Lightroom's operation status bar appears "ready for editing".
- then, after several minutes, a dialog box appears: "The file has not been modified, because Adobe Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched.

After this morning's update (07-29): after Lightroom's error message, Photoshop beta comes to the fore with the correct image sent. So the error message remains to be resolved, as does the processing time between Lightroom and Photoshop beta.

Uninstalling Photoshop then reinstalling usually resolves the issue you describe.

The 'Edit in Photoshop 2023' in Lightroom Classic is delayed and then a pop message apapears stating 'The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop could not be launched' and then after clicking 'Ok' the photo appears correclty in Photoshop Beta where it should have done already.

Why is there a delay in this fuction since the recent update to Photoshop Beta 25.0.

Lightshoom Classic verison is 12.4.

Using Windows 11 PC Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621.

There is a problem with the latest Photoshop beta. It kills the link between Lightroom Classic and (both versions of) Photoshop. Uninstalling/reinstalling the release version of Photoshop works, but uninstalling/reinstalling the beta version does not restore its link.

When trying to edit an image in Photoshop Beta via edit-in in Lightroom causes a dialog to appear stating

"The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched." when the image is either a new Tif or opened from a Raw photo. Clicking 'OK' opens the image in photoshop but a tif also appears in Lightroom immediately. I've been able to replicate this error on two different machines. This is in Windows. Editing an exisiting file is fine. It doesn't matter if Photoshop is started before or not.

My tests with LrC using Mac Studio M1 Ultra, MacBook Pro M1 Pro and Mac mini M1 all work fine with the latest public Photoshop. The latest internal beta is broken.

For those of you who have already updated to Ps 2024 Beta 25.0, you can revert to the previous beta (24.7) using the Adobe Creative Cloud App as shown in attached screenshot.
