P: Remove Tool missing on Windows ARM

Community Beginner ,
Jul 05, 2024 Jul 05, 2024

I'm using Photoshop 25.9.1 on one of the newly released copilot+ PC with SnapDrag. So far the software is working fine but I can not find "remove tool" anywhere. Is this a bug or that feature has not been yet ported on ARM?

This is the menu displayed at the moment:

Hi All!

Sorry for the trouble. The current iteration of the Remove tool is unavailable on ARM-based Windows Devices.

So, this is expected behavior for now.

Thanks!

@loremi this is the only info I can find about running Photoshop on Copilot+ PCs, it should be compatible according to the article

https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/download-install/kb/arm-processors.html

Maybe try resetting the Photoshop preferences

https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset

The remove tool is not available in the ARM version of Photoshop. I have it on my x86 computer, where it appears in the toolbar, but it's absent in both the regular and beta ARM versions. As the original poster mentioned, this is not related to resetting the toolbar; the tool simply isn't there.

I am wondering if the issue raised by another user a while ago has been resolved (see link to thread below).

The remove tool is not available on ARM computers. It's not hidden as part of a workspace setting or anything (see screenshot below). I am fairly convinced that it has to do with the Photoshop version on new ARM devices, as highlighted by other users. On my standard Windows computer (which I also have), the tool is visible and works fine.

I would like to know if this issue has been acknowledged or is being handled. Thank you!

Hi there, I'm writing to request the addition of an object removal feature to Photoshop for Windows on ARM. This would be a game-changer for product photography and I'm sure many other users would find it very helpful. Thanks for considering my suggestion.

The remove tool is missing in both the BETA and the regular version of Photoshop.

Photoshop 26+

Windows ARM (Snapdragon)

I have uninstalled both completely and it is still missing upon reinstall.

Hello,

Just for my own knowledge, should the tools be available on a Windows ARM machine? I can access them on other PCs, but not the Windows ARM machine.

@Joseph38057343i59p go to this page and follow the directions to make sure your GPU is in fact supported.

Hello,

  • compatability check says my gpu is compatable.
  • GPU mode is D3D12
  • info panel adds Doc: 114.4M/114.4M
  • I have factory reset the computer and Windows
  • I have reinstalled Photoshop and Lightroom
  • I uninstalled them again and reinstalled without remembering preferences on new installs

This is still the only device I can't access the remove tool. It doesn't exist anywhere in any of my preferences or toolbar settings.

Thank you for the update @Joseph38057343i59p .

Could you share some screenshots of your desktop and the tool palette that the Remove Tool should be so we can see what might be happening?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop beta System Info. Launch Photoshop beta, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thanks,

Hi @Joseph38057343i59p after some digging we found out that at this time, WinARM machines are not supported for the new Remove Tool. These machines will be supported at sometime in the future, but for now they are not.

Thanks,

Cory - Photoshop Product Manager

Dang, this has hit me too. Recent Galaxy Book 4 Edge (Snapdragon X Elite) purchase.

I've also got a Macbook, thankfully, but I had no idea there were features available on Mac OS that aren't available Windows / Windows on ARM. What a pain!

Hello Sameer

Any idea when this will finally be supported? This is really important for everyone's workflow.

I can't believe it. How can you disable this useful feature on ARM computers. I'm paying a subscription for an incomplete software.

Couldn't agree more and this feels like false advertising. Even the updates say the feature is in there but it's never in the program while on ARM.

Hello!

Can you please update us on a timeline as to when this is being added? It's an extremely important feature we are paying for and have no access to. Please.
