Don't lose access to Generative AI features in Photoshop! Upgrade your copy of Photoshop (beta) to version 25 or higher.

On August 14th at 11am Pacific time versions of the Photoshop (beta) application older than version 25 will lose access to the Generative AI features. Users will experience an error stating - "The service is not responding. Please check your internet and try again." when trying to use the generate capability. Simply get a new build (version 25 and higher) using the Creative Cloud Desktop application to regain access to this feature.

Follow the link provided for complete instructions on how to update your version of Photoshop (beta).

@Ed Hart no - you uninstall that beta then install the latest beta update. Betas have a ton of iterative/manditory updates before a GA release.

With the latest update I found out the following:

When I am in Lightroom, classic and "open in  Photoshop", and Photoshop is closed, it opens the picture within 11 seconds.

When Photoshop is already open, even after 4 minutes, the picture did not open.

The trick is after you clicked "open in Photoshop" in Lightroom, click with the left mouse in the Photoshop window.
Then immediately another window pops up and when you confirm that, the picture opens in Photoshop all together under five seconds.

Beforethe problems, the click in Photoshop was not necessary and it would be nice, if in one of the next updates, one would not need it anymore.

But all together, it works again very fast.

Hello.
I have a problem with the generative fill tool in Photoshop Beta.
Despite having the programm updated to the newest version (v 24.7 on Windows 11), I cannot generate anything. When trying to do so I reviece the message "This function requires the latest version of Photoshop (Beta)", but to my knowledge there are no newer versions available.
One website suggested trying to reinstall v 24.6, but when trying the generative fill in this vesion I only got error request_task: 400 Bad Request.
I've now reinstalled v 24.7 again, but still no success.Error Message.png

Hi , I've moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Photoshop Beta forum where you are more likely to get help with your issue. First though, try signing out of, then back into your CC desktop application.

That would be fine if 25.0 was working properly.  Now, you can't use the earlier ones either.  Thanks, Adobe! The last time that there was a brush tool for select and mask that worked was with 24.6. Until 2 days ago, I was happily using that version because it worked. Then that one stopped working. After 2 1/2 hours with support yesterday and 2 uninstall and reinstalls, it was determined that 24.7 worked best.  Now, that won't work for generative fill. So, right now, you have a great version with 24.6 and we can't use it.

No!  Go to the creative cloud for your account and click on the three dots to the right of your version of LRC.  It will give you the option for previous versions. I'm so thrilled to be able to work again!

Yeah, this isn't ready for prime time... The AI fill keeps annoyingly shoving itself to the center of the photo your working on.... the generated fill is often  wrong.... the warning popups about community standards violations are troubleing.... (you're now wanting to police our thougth and speech??? Seriously?   And when did "ancient" become a bad word??_)     If you have the Beta version, you lose the standard content aware fill.  For some reason that option is no longer valid even when the "help" points you to that spot in the pulldowns.   Now Bridge opens things in BETA without giving you the option of the true Photoshop program?!! that's truly annoying.  So if you use bridge and raw editor, you can only use the BETA version of PS?

Might wanna take some more time and get this right before release.

I can only help with that "annoyingly shoving itself to the center of the photo you're working on".

Grab that AI Generative fill mini toolbar by the solid white vertical line on the left side of it and pin it to the top of your screen or on the top toolbar. Select the three dots and select "pin bar position" from the drop-down menu. We're all waiting for them to work out the other bugs. Try to install 25.0 to see if some of them were fixed for you.

Just fyi...I put this in a reply to someone else but in case it was overlooked.  LrC and Beta 25 are working together - files open into PS from LR and GF works, but only with PSD files.  Raw and DNG files do not want to open in PS from LR for some reason.  You will probably need to go back that the previous version of LrC if you want that to happen.  I haven't tested Tiff files, but my Raws and DNGs will not open in PS from LR.

Well done, Adobe. They break Lightroom classic by making it next to impossible to export to/use PS as an external editor, then insist we update to it. Either way you don't get generative fill, so why bother!

I don't want the newest build because it won't let me put a background on my tasteful artistic nudes. I was using an older version of Beta and it worked fine until now. I want to be able to use it on my images. This is a big problem, as it it my livelihood.

Thanks
