When using a type/text area in PS my keyboard arrow key's sometimes just stop working. There's just no more feedback and I have to restart PS to 'fix' the problem. This is a very annoying bug which really degrades my productivity!
Haven't had this issue since almost a year and a half. I recall it was solved by upgrading to a new CC version at the time. Since then I have been happily Photoshopping without any major issues.
Yes, that's what I expected. We fixed this bug in a previous version and I haven't heard anything about it since. If anyone continues to have the problem, I would need some specific details in order to resolve the issue.
I just started having the same problem today. Is there a fix or work around? It's REALLY frustrating, since I make several graphics that have text. Thanx!
I have the same issue. And yes, I'm on 2014.2.2. Adobe Photoshop CC mac. I found this thread, and yes, by minimizing Photoshop and then clicking the desktop, then returning to Photoshop, I was able to finally move my cursor in the text again. This has been bothering me for at least a year now.
Would be happy to work with you to find out where the bug is.... 🙂
Hmm...I can't say that I'm happy to read this. I'd hoped we'd killed off this little beastie earlier. 8-(
Okay, so, can we start with your system info -- which OS version, what language, other applications running, sidecar apps, tablets or other pointing devices, etc?
From there, I may take you up on that offer to work with us...what time-zone are you in?
I've been on vacation so I missed your earlier comment. Could you share the following information so I can help track down what's going on? What's your system info -- which OS version, what language, other applications running, sidecar apps, tablets or other pointing devices, etc?
Hi David, thanks for the quick response! I'm running OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks), English with 16GB of RAM (so plenty of memory). I didn't make note of exactly what other apps were running at the time, though I know for certain Microsoft Office for Mac was running and Chrome was running (though I've had this issue when I was using Firefox at the same time, so I don't think it is a conflict with either of those). Also itunes was running along with Creative Cloud and Dropbox. Once again, I don't think it has to do with other apps running. The issue has always happened when I am trying to edit a text layer - not when I first create it. I know this particular time I "cut" part of the text out by highlighting it, and this is when the rest suddenly was non-responsive to the arrow keys. Also, I was able to put my cursor in a particular spot (using my mouse to move it) and INSERT text, but was unable to use the delete key to delete text forward, but was able to delete text backward.
Finally, I'm using a magic mouse as my pointing device. This is on a MacBook Pro, though I am using a secondary monitor (Thunderbolt display) for Photoshop to load onto.
As I mentioned earlier in this thread I'm experiencing this all well. I'm on a MacPro running Yosemite. I have 16GB of memory and have Safari, iTunes and MS Outlook open most of the time. I'm using the Apple Trackpad. I subscribe to Creative Cloud and update my software regularly so I'm alway on the most recent version of Photoshop and I'm on OS X 10.10.1
It just did it again and I did a screen cap of what I had going on in Photoshop. Wish I could reproduce it reliably for you, but I don't know what causes it. It's intermittent. This time, it did it on a section that I did't cut - but it WAS a section I was editing. That's the only thing I find consistent - that it happens only after a text area has been created and you go back to it and try to edit it. In this case, I duplicated a group and went into it to edit the text layer and the cursor hung. Another person just posted they are using a trackpad, whereas I am using a magic mouse, so I'm not sure if the pointing device means anything.
Oh great... A problem that still exists two years later in the most recent version of CC 2015 in a different flavor. When you change font weight, the focus becomes locked on that drop down and the arrow keys will not function normally.
