My Phtoshop keeps crashing and I want to send them a fault report like this:-

The crashes seem to occur whenver I use the object selection tool for some unknown reason....

Welcome to the forum.
Which version of Photoshop and OS?
How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?

Does the crash occur with all docs or just one?

Have you tried resetting the Photoshop preferences, which you can do under the General tab in Photoshop preferences?

Adobe does not offer email support. There should be a report button on the crash report that goes to Adobe. I'll tag @J453 to be sure he catches your post.

First, make sure you're using the latest version 23.3.

Second, I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash.

Hi Jeffrey

I replied via email - but that might not have worked - so I am answering you again here.

I have noticed that I don;t always get an error report. It only seems to happen when I use the "lasso" in the "object selection tool". I just get a notice saying "An error has occured and Photoshop needs to close" or something similar. It seems now to be happening with monotonous regularity which is not only annoying but frutrating as in not all cases do I get a recovery on re-opening. In some instances I am referred to the Adobe Photoshop website and given a list of "fixes" such as re-setting the preferences and starting the programme with any add-ins. Well, I have done all ths and it is still happening. I pay a lot to use Phtoshop and I would not have thought a bug like this would be resultant. I would pleasesd therefore if you could assist in eradicating this irritating behaviour. Thank you.

Thanks. I found the crash reports. Will need an engineer to look at them. Looks like it's crashing in GPU or MachineLearning compute code (which uses the GPU).

Try this: Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Use Graphics Processor. Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

I think I had the box unchecked before re "Use Graphics P:rocessor" and the programme was still crashing. When I resetg the preferences - it has become checked again - so I have again unchecked it. Sadly 23.4.1 still has not resolved my previously reported issue of my computer doing a full crash/reboot a few seconds after I have selected the object selection tool. As I have said before this has happened with every 23.x.x version only when I select the object selection tool. My W11 computer is fully stable with every other piece of softwarw including LrC and all the Topaz suite. I run the latest NVidia Studio Drivers on a NVidia 1080 Ti card. There are no crash reports being submitted as the full computer crash/reboot does not give a chance to record any reports. I will have to continue to use PS 22.5.8 whicvh is fully stable until you guys can work out the software bug causing this behaviour. I know I am not alone as there are numerous other reportsa of my behaviour occurring with others who are all probably like me and sitting on v 22 waiting. I believe it to be some sort of incompatibility between the NVidia drivers and code involved in the object selection routine. I still find it curious that there is no such issue when selecting objects in the latest LR versions. I have tried deselecting the Use GPU processor also with no change.

Hi Mohit. As per previous posts I am unable to submit crash reports as once I select the Object selection tool, I get a spinning wheel for around 2 seconds then a complete reboot of my computer. Therefore there are no crash reports I can submit. Happy for you to communicate with me if I can be of any help. Will send my email address.

Thanks for the update and for sharing your email. Could you please turn off the GPU from the Photoshop preferences and check if that helps to decrease the problem for you? Also, download the log collector tool on your machine and submit the logs to Adobe: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html

I have already tried with GPU processing option both on and off and makes
no difference to the crash/reboot issue. Repeated with the latest version.
I will download the log collector as you wish and implement collection
tomorrow.

Hi Mohit & others. Thought I would share my experience and resolution of the problem. The full computer reboot on clicking on the object selection tool remained an issue for all 23. versions (OK on 22...). It eventually was resolved by replacing and upgrading my name brand 1000W PSU. I upgraded it to an Antec Neo 1300W PSU and connected two different ports to the two connections on my NVidia GPU --> problem solved! It seems the GPU was demanding more power than could be supplied when I used the Object Selection tool despite trying to deselect using GPU in the preferences setting in PS. Happy chappy at last and thought it worth sharing.
