After updating the photoshop (Windows 10) to 23.0 my zoom in/out function through mouse scroll button started to worked delayed, and I had to revert to previous version where it works just fine.

Install the 23.2.2 update. It corrects this issue.

@Deleted User and @MJaskulski - I believe the issue you are seeing is related to a recent bug introduced in 23.2 that happens on Windows when rulers are enabled. Can you check whether disabling rulers (Ctrl+R or View > Rulers) addresses the issue, while we work on a fix? Thanks!

@boomerek Can you describe your problem to make sure it's same as the one that was fixed in 23.0.1?

  • What platform are you on?
  • When does the issue happen?
  • Is your Preferences > Tools > Animated Zoom setting on or off?

I am on 23.0.1, I am seeing same behaviour as with 22.x I was reporting it for about a year, no reply from Adobe other than usual "send your system info" or "update your drivers". The issue is same as described in this bug - without zoom moving curve points is quick, with zoom it is extremely slow. I think that in 23.0.0 you introduced same bug but visible more often - for everyone - and now you fixed the case everyone sees but the other one is still there.

@Matt Fuerchis it possible you will contact me with anyone from Adobe so maybe we could together debug this issue? I noticed after it is slow I can restart the Photoshop to fix it and then it works some time, then when it slow downs I can restart again and so on

I have the same slow mouse action you have in zoom in PS 23.0.1 . Perhaps cursor moves fast but action is a second late which makes painting on adjustment layers very, very difficult. Mouse speed settings in OS 12.0.1 had no impact on this delay. Otherwise nice features for marketing, but not really usable for me.

@Ottokar You may want to create a separate thread since you're still seeing an issue. The issue reported by the OP on this thread is fixed so your problem isn't lost in this thread.

I can confirm. The problem returned in 23.2, they brotught it back in 23.0 fixed in 21.1 and brought it back again. I had to downgrade to 23.2 again.

I think I found the problem and the solution.
After a lot of tests, I figure out that problem ocourr when the Rulers was on. When I deactivated Rulers (Ctrl + R), the lagging was gone. But it was a temporary fix. So, I found another fix: I just uncheck that option on preferences and voilá, Photoshop's slow when zooming is gone.

@Matt Fuerch Thanks for the answer. That is exactly the problem. If I hide the rulers, the zoom function is reliable again. If the rulers are shown, the problem is present again.

@brunortega unfortunately this does not work for me. The problem remains. I have to hide the rulers, then it's good. Thanks

28th Feb - noticed the laggy zoom after update to 23.2.1 on windows 10

Disabling rulers does seem to make the problem go away. If it was fixed previously, then congratulations, you've broken it again.

I find it hard to believe that somebody didn't do a test as simple as open a document and zoom in before rolling this out - especially as these seem to be a recurring problem

Hello,

actually with version 23.2.1 the problem persist. While the rulers are active the scroll with ALT button and mousewheel is extremely laggy.

Hiding rulers (@Matt Fuerch  thanks a lot), "solve" it.

I'm on a Mac. Using Photoshop 23.2.1, I have a very bad problem when zoomed in and trying to scroll. It is very, very slow. And, of course, I can't stop it once it starts. This happens when I am using my Apple mouse. If I use the scrollbars, it doesn't happen. And it only happens when I'm already zoomed in. I encounteerd this problem on earlier versions of Photoshop. And it seems to have started when I updated to MacOS Big Sur (but that could just be a coincidence).
