P: Font in artboard gets garbled on File > Export > Export Artboards to Files

Oct 25, 2021 Oct 25, 2021

Hi there,

sorry for the bulletpoints: font gets garbled after "export artboards to files". Displayed fine before. Picture attached.

Woraround: "copy merged" and "save for web (legacy)".

Active Font-Manager: FontBase (but as stated: the font is displayed just fine in the master-file).

@ZHack I believe this is fixed in the current version of Photoshop (23.1). Can you confirm it's also working for you?

I am running the most updated version of Photoshop (19.1.4) as of 5/15/2018 on a mac running OS Sierra 10.12.6. I use Suitcase Fusion Version 19.0.5 (6615) to manage my fonts. I have a PSD with several art boards, the fonts and images all look fine, but when I "export artboards to files" the fonts are switching to gibberish.

A screenshot of the artboard:

Resulting gibberish:

I feel like it's an issue with Photoshop's export function but I'm not sure. Help!

Hello there,

have you tried exporting the file via "Save as" or "Save for Web"? Also, does this error shows up with all the fonts?

Good question. I just tested. Saving for Web DOES work, but then it combines all four artboards into one giant JPG. I tried exporting artboards to PDF and it failed.

Here's the "save for web" result (I reduced it in size just for showing it here, but the fonts are fine):

I just tested an earlier version of this file, and it exported to files fine. Perhaps the current PSD has some sort of corruption.

Maybe try creating another Artboard file in Photoshop and export to PDF. If the error repeats, there's probably a problem with Photoshop. If not, the problem is on the file.

(Also notice that I don't see your attachment. Try re-upload it.)

Scrambled text/font whenever I attempt to export "Artboards to Files". I've noticed it across multiple files, multiple font's, random font weights at times.

See example:

This has been affecting workflow and general productivity. Any ideas or fixes?

I see its not happening with the "225-king" font. or the "$49". If you save as PDF does it still happen. If you use another font does it still happen? You can see where i am going here.

If its urgent you may have to rasterize that text. the font may be corrupt or it may be a permissions issue not allowing PS to embed

What is the font? Can you post your source PSD?
