P: Lagging scrolling (hand Tool) with Navigator panel showing v24, v23 and v22

Hello,

when using old Photoshop v20 and v19 (Windows 10), everything is smooth and fast. I can grab the canvas with my hand tool and scroll it very fluently.

But with Photoshop v22, v23 and v24, scrolling with hand tool becomes very lagging. Especially when Navigator window is open. It worked with v20, but not with v22. (I could not test v21).

Does somebody else experienced that lagging scrolling with v22, v23 and v24?

Important to note that the main factor here is the Navigator window. When that window is opened, it is lagging a lot when scrolling but only in Photoshop v22+

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable "Older GPU mode (pre 2016)" - Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Having the Navigator open does take some additional processor to render. How choppy is it? How big is the file you're working with? (pixel dimensions/# of layers)

Can you share a screen recording? Post a URL to the the video using CC files or dropbox, or something similar to share the file.

My file size is 1600x1200. Problem occurs even with one layer 😞

I have the same problem on my Surface Pro 8.

It’s not unusable at least with my hardware, but I can see a definite slowdown in frame rate (more choppy) I suspect on some hardware it might worse - but I don’t have a system where it’s abysmal.

I've asked engineering to take a look.

This is issue is since PhotoShop 2020. That is why I am still using PhotoShop 2019 😞

This is still very much an issue, even with a beefy machine and a 1024x1024 image things become very choppy whenever the navigator window has to update itself.
Disable the navigator window and everything is fine.
I'm wondering if it's limiting the framerate to 60, which is very noticable on a higher hz monitor.
