P: MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max Laggy Liquify

MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max 96GB RAM - Photoshop 24.2
I recently changed to this new computer and photoshop is super laggy in tools like liquify and other filters, the brush lags a lot!
Even the zoom is slow.
Even my 2015 MacBook is faster at these tasks.

I don't know what is going on but something can't be right...

Hey @Kaladdune. Instead of disabling GPU for Photoshop, press & hold the OPT key when you click on Filter Menu > Liqufy to skip using GPU only for Liquify, and other features will not be impacted.

Thanks!

Another Update,

Seems like I spoke to soon?

This issue sprung back just now for the three ppl group individual ID photos.

Had to resort back to transform->flip->liquify/cancel-> then back to warp.

One thing I changed since "cursor method" was to change the memory usage in "performance" tab to "16267" which Photoshop states as lower value of "ideal range"

LRc was running as well and memory usage was at around 71% in activity monitor.

@JSP8475 this is a community forum with volunteers - not Adobe support directly. That being said - Sonoma has introduced some odd GPU issues that are known and being addressed that effect Liquify and Warp.

Sorry for pointing it out: The option inside the Technology Preview (Disabel Native Canvas) does not work. It is really a serious problem with photoshop in combination with mac os sonoma on mac studio M1 Ultra. On my macbook pro i7 ist seems we have no problem. - Previous mac os worked fine... ist only the combination photoshop with mac os sonoma. - I have found a lot of trouble notes in the www, but not a really helpful solution. Holding the option key by opening the liquify filter makes the ma creally slow and jumpy. - Please try to fix this problem for your photoshop users. Thank you ver much!

....maybe this option is a hand to somone: The Problem will not solved by holding the option key by opening the liquify filter, but holding the control key is helping. It ist a little bit strange, but ist seems that this way it can a help until someone will really solve this trouble with mac os sonoma in combination with photoshop.

i've had the same problem M2 Max MBP...

It took 4 months for Adobe to fix the liquify lag issue. I  hope it doesn't take that long to fix this bug.

Newest update didn't fix it.

The liquefaction problem is still not solved this year, which seriously affects the efficiency. I'm wondering why the problem hasn't been solved in six months.

@Seven Zhang , we have not been able to reproduce in house to troubleshoot the issue; all attempts to find a person willing to get on the phone and share their screen have failed. If you have the issue and can reproduce it, we would appreciate the assist if you also have the time.

I can't believe this STILL hasn't been fixed.  Still same lagging liquify problem on my Macbook Pro (M1) running Sonoma 14.3.
