P: Make the brush cursor easier to see (too thin, not enough contrast with some colors)

In last updates I'm having problem seeing brush (paint and healing) cursor when working with colors similar to cursor grey (grey or brown midtones for expamle).

Sometimes cursor changes to white, but for very short time and very randomly.

So it's really hard to see where I'm just gonna paint or heal. It is really annoying and tiring.

If you want to try the new Brush Cursor options in the  Photoshop (Beta)

Screen Shot 2022-11-08 at 11.57.20 AM.png

How to use:

  1. Create a text file
  2. Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt
  3. In the Text file add this…

    BrushTipOutlineStrokeWidth 3

(0-3) This Increases the brush cursor outline.
0 is the default in the shipping version of Photoshop.
This Beta is using 1 as a default.

We are aware of cases that a brush icon can be difficult to see.

Making it stand out more strongly would be very useful and we are evaluating solutions for all the platforms we support.

Our friend above seems to think I prefer to remain with the CS6 version 13.0 and live with the problem, but doesn't realise that not all of us can afford to pay the extra for updating PS to the latest version.

wake.forest.ltd@gmail.com , it matters neither what I realize nor why you use Photoshop CS6 – it is obsolete and Adobe has, with good reason, not been updating it for years now and expecting future updates for it is unjustified.

If you budget for new hardware, you need to factor in the cost of upgrading software as well. Its just how modern computing works.

The cursor is still hard to see when brush size is very small.

I already set Brush Tip Outline to Extra Bold!

In the attached screenshot, can you find the cursor in 1 second? In the center of the canvas.

Let's take a look at SAI2 and CSP. They have the ability to display both the cursor and the brush size circle simultaneously. This can help locate the cursor when the brush size circle is very small. However, they are not perfect either. The cursor size cannot be changed within the software; it follows the system's DPI scale (the same as Photoshop), so it can appear small on a 4K monitor. Additionally, they cannot adjust the Brush Tip Outline thickness like in Photoshop. I don't like CSP's cursor because it is positioned at the top-right of the center, instead of the bottom-right.

I would like to point out that their brush size circles have dynamic colors, which appear to be complementary colors. Photoshop's brush size circle is black and white.
