@ivarex there is a widespread AWS outage affecting Adobe services. See status.adobe.com for more information.

@Anshul_Saini and @Sameer K

The disruption at Amazon Web Services may be the cause.

The NYT reported a distruption in Amazon webservices:

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10/20/business/aws-down-internet-outage?unlocked_article_code=1.u08.5MQ7.cBm0eMU2C_gx&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

I confirmed that Adobe uses Amazon Web Services

https://aws.amazon.com/partners/adobe/

Hi All! Apologies for the downtime. I've consolidated your posts and escalated this across teams. The team is working to restore the service.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! Quick update: my gen expand started working about an hour ago. I also got a response from Adobe that they're aware of the issues and are working on them as of the moment, so it's most likely that the fixes are currently being rolled on your devices already, just need to wait! ❤️

Guys, this turned out to be AWS problem. I just found out that Amazon web services were down globally. This means Amazon has to resolve it and they are on it.

Fingers crossed!

I think the main issue here is the wording of the error message. If it just read “AI elements of Photoshop are not available at this time” it would be easier to understand. I don’t think the user’s region has anything to do with it!

(it’s working for me now)

Hello Everyone,

I recently switched my Adobe Creative Cloud subscription from an individual plan to a Student Plan.

Since the change, I can no longer use Generative AI features inside applications like Photoshop and Illustrator — for example, Generative Fill shows this message:
“This feature is not available in your region yet.”

However, when I check my Adobe Account > Generative AI section, it clearly shows:

  • Standard features: Unlimited access

  • Premium features: 4000 / 4000 credits available

Before switching to the Student Plan, I was using all Firefly-powered features normally in the same region (Egypt).

It seems that although my account has active credits, the Firefly features are blocked only inside the desktop apps for education accounts in Egypt.

Can someone from Adobe please confirm if Generative AI features are currently disabled for Student/Education plans in Egypt, or if this is a system issue with my account?

Thank you very much for your help.

I'm actually starting to think that there's two different problems at play here:

1) The users like myself that have been experiencing this problem since Wednesday the 15th of October for whom the problem still persists.

2) The users that have only experienced the problem in the last 24hrs and who now seem to have full functionality again. These users may have seen a disrupted service because of issues with the Amazon servers which now seems to be resolved.

@alexander_5788 my thoughts were the same. I don't think it's an AWS issue when I've had the issue since last Tuesday/Wednesday...
