If your talking about the icon on the Layer Mask itself then that's supposed to be there in the photoshop 25.1 beta.

Some of the features added to beta versions will or will not make it into the production versions.

You can make a further comment about the layer mask icon here:

My other retouching computer, a 24 inch Imac with the M1 chip running under Sonoma has the same bug. Again, I never had a beta version. So I guess this must be a bug or a mixed up update ?
It is very annoying in the workflow and must go!

Hi @RedFishBlack,

Thanks for posting on this badge on layer masks, and apologies for the workflow disruption this causes.
The preference to disable this badging will be available in the next release of Photoshop.

Here are some solutions that will help in the meantime:

  1. You can use Creative Cloud desktop to roll the 25.1 release back to 25.0
  2. Install the latest Photoshop beta (Version: 25.2.0 20231018.m.2368 or later) and use the Layer panel options to disable this badge

Regards,

Pete

Is there a way to record the step of disabling this mask badges via Layers Panel Options in Actions? I could not find a way to do that. I can only open the panel via the recorded Action but I have to manually uncheck ths box.

I agree.  These "badges" are so distracting and annoying.  I have PS 25.1 and not Beta running on a Mac 12.7.  Please Adobe, give us a way to remove them!  Thank you.

Why give the mask icon a second icon?!? That seems like a change just for the sake of changing. No benefit at all. Au contraire.
