P: Photoshop 26.2 adjustment layers grayed out on cmyk file.

Community Beginner ,
Dec 17, 2024 Dec 17, 2024

As subject states there are several adjustment layers that no longer work on 26.2 and beta.

Made a new file - CMYK 8bit filled a layer with color, attempted to apply adjustment layer and it is greyed out. Curves, hue saturation and maybe more.

I went back to 25.12 and it works as it should with no issues.

Windows 11.

Known bug when called from the Layers panel.

Use the Adjustment panel or the menu > new adjustment layer.

Hello! Unfortunately, this is a recent bug that we are working to fix. This only effects the Layers panel "Create new fill or adjustment layer" button. As a workaround, until we get this is addressed, you can still use:

  • Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation
  • Adjustments panel > Single adjustments > Hue/Saturation

All three methods produce the exact same results, there is no difference between these options.

Hi @Jen5FFC ,

Thanks for letting us know this made it to the release version and apologies for the trouble here.

We've been able to reproduce this as well and will work on a fix for this.

Workaround: We're able to create Curves and Hue/Sat adjustment layers via the Adjustments panel and Image > Adjustments

Could you check that out and let us know if it's the same for you?

Regards,

Pete

The curves and hue-saturation option in the LAB mode is greyed out (as well as in CMYK mode) in the layers panel. There is a workaround through
Layer -> Adjustment layer > curves/Hue Saturation,
but it is very cubmersome - please mend this (was working prior 26.2 version)

Hoy se actualizó Photoshop en el trabajo y ya no me permite crear una capa de ajuste de Curvas. Es necesario que sea ese el que use porque se tiene que dejar evidencia de lo que se le hizo al arte, alguien sabe cómo solucionarlo??

Consider resetting your Preferences, which you can do under the General tab in Photoshop Settings, then close and reopen the application.

Hello everyone,

Here I want to report a problem given by the LAB color method. Before an update it was working correctly, I could use the curves, as well as the hue\Saturation.

With the new update it no longer lets me select the aforementioned adjustment options.
When you even click on Vibrance, it says that it can't be used for this color method.

Is it a bug or does the new update really look like this? because in this way I lose a lot in terms of processing.
How else can it be solved? Thank you

Bizarre,

When working on a 32bit file, you used to be able to create an exposure adjustment. Now the button is grayed out. You can still copy the adjustment layer from an older file, so the filter still works

Step 1 to reproduce the issue open a 32 bit file
Step 2 to reproduce the issue click on create a new fill or adjustment layer

Expected result: Photoshop should be able to create an exposure adjustment layer

After double checking PS 2025 and CS6 with a 16bit image , both instances of PS LEVELS seem to display the same graph of intensities and allow me to adjust the same way.

They do not work the same with the image in 32 bit mode.

From my experiments, PS 2025 does not present the correct LEVELS display in 32 bit mode.

I guess I will just work images in the 16 bit mode.

Yes that's a confirmed bug.

Until the bug gets fixed you can use Window>Adjustments or Layer>New Adjustment Layer to create an Exposure Adjustment Layer.

Bonjour.

En version 26.2 de Photoshop, j'ai perdu la possibilité de créer un calque "Courbe" quand je suis sur un fichier CMJN, il est grisé.

J'ai réinstaller la version précédente (26.1) pour remédier au problème pour le moment...

Merci.

it is all mess as usually... on the other side, there are some adjustments, which are not greyed out, end up with error

¿Porqué se desactivan estos ajustes de capa (curvas, exposición y tono-saturación) cuando estoy trabajando en nuevo documento?

it depends on the Document color mode ( image  -> mode ), all adjustments effects are availabel in RGB, However if you are in CMYK or Grayscale color mode some adjustments will not be availbe.
