P: Program error while opening or creating new document after update

Hi,

Photoshop just upgraded to 2021 version. When trying to open an image or close the program, I get the following error:

I just got it for almost nothing and previously used the Intel graphics built-in to the processor. 

The Quadro K2000D was fine for my uses, so it would be quite annoying if it wouldn't work.

Regarding drivers I have downloaded the latest Nvidia driver for enterprises on the K2000D which didn't make a difference. It still causes photoshop to crash. The intel driver for the on board Intel graphics processor I haven't upgraded for some time, but it's not supported anyway.

This is not the only error. I get the same error message when I hold space and want to drag. It's really annoying.

I installed 2020 version 21.2.4 it works.

The hardware requirements for CPU and GPU went up for the new release. A new card with a benchmark over 2000 would let you run Photoshop 22.

The k2000 is quite old and only scores 700: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/directCompute.html

If you look on the same benchmark page above you can see a number of modern cards for ~$100-150 that score 2000-3000.

Yes that's what I would call a downgrade. Usually software is optimized. This is the other way around. It even make errors without graphics acceleration when I press space bar and use the mouse to move the photo around.

same issue here. fresh install on a new to me desktop. disabling "use graphic processor" did nothing.

@JeffreyTranberry I was having the same issue and disabling the graphics processor helped.  Can you explain what you mean by “updating the graphics drivers from the manufacturer's website”?  Thanks.

@JeffreyTranberry I was having the same issue. At first it was just giving error when trying to create a new document. Today when trying to get it to work, I couldnt close program because of error. So weird. Disabling GPU Solved the problem. Nvidia Geforce 650 standard(1 gpu). 2 gpu Slots. (Updated to date). Thank you for fix!

I have the same problem... with GIGABYTE AERO 17 HDR KB, which I bought August 2020. All drivers are up to date
