P: "Save As" no longer appear with second monitors or Sidecar running after update to macOS Monterey

"Save As" no longer works after update to Mac Monterey OS

When I try to "Save As" I get no result. Normally a dialog box will pop up with format / file location options but it's no longer happening. I am trying to save a .psd file as a .psd file.

I have tried going to File / Save As and also the cmd/shift/S keyboard shortcut

I am also seeing this behavior in InDesign, but the Save As command works in Illustrator.

Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1

Mac Mini 2018

Thanks!

I chatted with support and worked through this issue for Photoshop by resetting my preferences.

Also, I use multiple screens and CS said to unplug my external monitors. With my monitors unplugged I went through the steps via link below:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

For Acrobat, I left the moniters unplugged and went through the steps of unchecking a couple of boxes in the preferences that were specified in another thread.  I think everything is fixed now. I wanted to pos

We're working on this issue with Apple. If you're still in this state, you can capture a Sysdiagnose log with the following instructions to share: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/59917/how-do-you-get-system-diagnostic-files-from-macos  You can DM a link to your Sysdiagnose log.

Fixed.  I'm running a 2nd NEC monitor that I use as my main screen. Changed the prefs to have the iMac as the main screen, then changed back, and now all dialog boxes are showing as normal.

I updated to Monterey today, just tried Save As, no issues. Tried a JPEG (save as to another location) and a TIFF saved as a JPEG, again, no issues.

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop.

hmmm, I uninstalled / reinstalled PS and I am seeing the same issue.

Maybe my issue isn't related to the OS update, but coincidental to it? Seems unlikely but mmmmmaybe?

Thanks for the reply D-Dog!

Double check your System Preferences > Privacy> Full Disk Access for PS is on.

I checked it, and it's on.

I've discovered that this behavior only occurs when I am using Sidecar to use an ipad as a second screen.

When I turn off Sidecar, the apps work normally. Bummer, I am going to miss using Sidecar but it's more important that I'm able to save files!

I updated to both Photoshop 23.0.0 and 22.5.2

and MacOS Monterey today.

Can open a file, edit it, it all works great...

When I want to Save/Save As/Export As, the finder window doesn't appear. Can't save the file.

No error. Just doesn't appear.

My only work around is to Force Quit and find the file in

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 2022/AutoRecover

[moved from Photoshop Discussions to Photoshop Bugs. Title renamed to include Monterey]

Sounds like the dialog might be appearing off screen. Is this system ever hooked up to more than one monitor?

If you restore your preferences using this manual method does it work correctly?

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

Sometimes reinstalling the app doesn't reset the preferences. To narrow down the issue could you please try resetting Photoshop's preferences and let us know how it goes?

Note: Make sure that you back up all your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

Sahil

Same problem here, if you open a PSD and change something, then 'save' works fine. But if you try to 'save as' or 'save a copy' - nothing. No dialog boxes.

27" iMac 2019, running OS 12.01 (Monterey) and this problem is the same for PS 22 and the just released 23.0.0.

I tried deleting PS prefs, nothing. Have checked disk access permissions and PS has full disk access.

And an update, if you create a new file, it won't 'save' either.

Disconnecting my secondary monitor from my iMac resolved the issue.

Apparently the dialog box is out of bounds if a secondary monitor is connected.

In my case:

- iMac 27" 2017 on Monterey 12.0.1

- A basic1080p Samsung monitor connected through USB-C to DVI adapter

- happened on Photoshop 23.0, 22.5.2, and XD 45.0.62.17

Hi, appreciate some help here - I've just updated Photoshop to the latest release (v23.0.0) and it now won't save any documents.

When I go to Save As nothing happens, eaqually when I try to 'Save for Web (Legacy)' all of the usual settings appear but when I click 'Save' nothing happens.

I've also just updated my operating system to macOS Monterey Version 12.0.1 and I work on a MacBook Pro (2019).

Any help would be much appreciated as I can't work if it continues like this!!

Kind regards

Ade

I also can't seem to find/install the old Photoshop versions anymore... I am in dire need of help.

Thank you. I reinstalled previous versions but the problem is remaining in all of them. It seems that I can't prompt the save window. The Export window will apear, but as soon as I want to continue to the save option, nothing happens.

Hello,
Is it a known bug, that on new macOS Monterey 12.0.1 save dialogs are bugged? For example in latest version of photoshop i can't export anything with 'export as'. Immediately when i click 'export' this window appears(attachment) and i cant click on anything. I tried reinstall photoshop, even install older version. It seems like conflict between photoshop interface and new macOS.
Thanks for your answer.
