I have been having this annoying problem for several weeks now. None of the solutions on the internet work at all. If this is your first time reading about this problem, these are the solutions I've seen so far (none of them is a real solution, each one causes other problems):

- Uncheck "Use graphics processor" in the performance tab in configuration. Result: It disables the rotating canvas features for Wacom tablets after a couple of minutes or just instantly.
- Check "Deactivate native canvas" and/or "Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)" in technology previews tab. Result: It becomes absurdly lagged, it is useless to work, just moving the canvas makes it go at 1fps.

I also have all my drivers updated (GPU, Windows, Wacom), PS updated, and with priority for the GPU. Is there any real solution for this? I have an RTX 3080 8 GB. This should not happen.

@RealMikeBaldwin Older GPU should only be used if the first option does not help.

Hi @David286748043kl2 Go to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. Quit and relaunch PS.

Hi Everyone,

I reported the issue to engineering.  In the meantime, you can workaround the issue by disabling Preferences -> Performance -> (GPU) Advanced Settings ... -> GPU Compositing.

Cheers,

Andrew

I started having the same issue yesterday, after seeing this thread I updated my graphics driver, but it didn't help, but unchecking Graphics Processor Settings worked for me.

Super frustrating issue happening in regular Ps and Ps Beta that is relatively recent. I have a "noise" layer action / hotkey that I've programmed that does the following: creates a 50% gray layer, sets blending mode to Soft Light, adds noise based on input %, usually around 10% uniform monochromatic noise. It just adds a little noise to graphics for a bit of visual interest. However, since about two updates ago, this is constantly bugging out. Whenever text is edited or a layer is being transformed, it turns to white or gray+noise. I have to either A) turn off/on the layer I've updated or B) turn off the noise layer until I'm done editing. This did not used to be an issue and my computer is definitely up to spec and has the latest Nvidia Studio drivers.

Having the same issue, except it doens't matter if there is a layer effect or not, it happens all the time. Only way to fix it is to move something else, or hide/unhide the layer.

Hi @ISABELA23565198h164

We understand this must have disturbed the workflow. Thanks for reaching out.

Are you using the latest version of Photoshop? Are your graphics drivers up-to-date?

There are a few steps that you can try to fix this. Check this similar discussion on our forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/white-squares-appearing-while-using-eraser-o....

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

@L30613Z @SANTIAGO25120576u73p - first make sure you have the most recent update 24.5.

If you do and its still happening, go to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. Quit and relaunch PS.

I have rtx3070, recently updated. Everything is up to date.

This is driving me crazy. I can not even move layers! PS does not render properly. Brush strokes result in white blocks and these areas do not become normal no matter what.

I have similar issue. Happens in bigger psb projects with artboards. It happens even after just moving some objects. The area they occupy turns into solid white rectangle, untill i hide and unhide the layers. Frustrating and makes work almost impossible, when to see the change you have to toggle visibility of layers for photoshop to re-render the area...

ANd i have geforce drivers up to date.

Hi! I've had this glitch happening every single time I use Photoshop in the last few weeks, when I move things around or when I paint with the paint brush, there are white boxes that appear right where I'm working and I can't see what I'm doing.

How do I get rid of this issue?whitebox_glitch.PNG

I am running on Photoshop 24.6 with Windows 10

Here are my computer specs (in french sorry):

Processeur AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT 12-Core Processor 3.80 GHz
Mémoire vive installée 32,0 Go
Type du système Système d’exploitation 64 bits, processeur x64

I am not the best in computer language so if someone has an answer, please explain as if I was a 5 year old

I've had the same problem! Rebooting didn't help though. Studio driver up to date - I'm going to try Preferences > Technology Previews and tick Older GPU Mode (Pre 2016)

Hi @Kevin Stohlmeyer, as I mentioned in the post, I already tried that, and I consider that it is not a solution because it only creates more problems. That just makes Photoshop very slow and makes it impossible to work. Just moving the canvas or zooming in and out becomes laggy.

Hi @santiagos33828144 Go to Photoshop Help Menu/System Info and copy/paste details in a reply. Post only once as the system takes time to process the large amount of data.

Full of waste my time the adobe pack. 😞

I have 7700hq i7 processor, nvidia 1050 gpu, 16GB ram, and nvme-SSD. Yes i know, this laptop (dell xps 9560) not zero day specification, but it have to be enough!

Hi there

I have the same issue on multiple computers. Your solution does not help to me.
I have one nVidia 1660Super, one 1070 and one 3070. I tried everything and at least swithc of the whole GPU acceleration works, but it is really uncomfortable.
All computers and drivers are up to date. On two computers are Windows11, one running Windows10. The issue is related to last few versions, when I am trying to work in V23, everything is OK. (until it crashes :))
The issue is more often visible, when you use multiple artboards.
For now I am stick to V23 (which is sadly unstable, but at least fast without distracting white rectangles) and I am hopping it will be fixed soon, as I am not the only one who have this issue.
