P: White squares/Boxes appear

I have been having this annoying problem for several weeks now. None of the solutions on the internet work at all. If this is your first time reading about this problem, these are the solutions I've seen so far (none of them is a real solution, each one causes other problems):

- Uncheck "Use graphics processor" in the performance tab in configuration. Result: It disables the rotating canvas features for Wacom tablets after a couple of minutes or just instantly.

- Check "Deactivate native canvas" and/or "Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)" in technology previews tab. Result: It becomes absurdly lagged, it is useless to work, just moving the canvas makes it go at 1fps.

I also have all my drivers updated (GPU, Windows, Wacom), PS updated, and with priority for the GPU. Is there any real solution for this? I have an RTX 3080 8 GB. This should not happen.

Sure:
Newest version, but attempting to rectify in an older version now in fear that it's going to happen again.

As I work through trying to fix the file it seems that the corrupted areas don't seem to overlap other pixels, and the squares that have appeared all over the file seem to be the opposite colour to whatever colour is in the layer (so white squares appear next to black line layers, and green squares next to purple coloour or gradient layers

It's not just the appearance(preview) that changes, it's actually damaging the image, right?
Any files that you have damaged psd or tiff, jpg, png will get more detailed help if you share them to the Adobe team below. @CShubert <<<< Give it to this person.
I remember there was a similar bug like this in Photoshop 23.4 last year, but I remember the Adobe team was able to find a solution faster by sharing an image of the actual problem at that time.

@CoryShubert Yes, just one file, and I think it was while I was working on it, or during a save. I can send the PSD if helpful, but in messages it doesn seem I can attach one? I'm not super tech savy, but have follwed the below instructions and also checked and the driver for Nvidia seems to be the newest. As mentioned in the first post I often work with large files, and this is well within my usual ballpark so can't imagine that's the issue.
@Jqqerry Thanks for the help! And yes, the squares and damage were new pixels that appearred in a LOT of the layers in the PSD (I'm going to guess this affected maybe 50 layers at a suuuper rough guess) but they didn't appear on all layers, and none of the new pixels seemed to overlay pixels I'd already created (so all in empty alpha sections of a layer, which luckily meant to recover the file I just had to go through all affected layers and delete the random squares). Only one layer seemed to have had it's pixel colours inverted, but as it was a flat colour layer it could just be filled again.

You can't do it from Photoshop, that's a big part of the problem. This is done in the operating system.

I have some big issues with Photoshop. Basically, very frequently, it broke. It's difficult to describe, the video can speak for me! I have those kind of visual bug, impossible to work.

I can add that:

- Scrolling zoom stop working and the option it's greyed out

- everything looks low-res

- if I restart photoshop, it works again (but after some times it gets broken again.)

My pc: Matebook D 15 huawei

Hi @AdrianaFilippini DO NOT uninstall Photoshop. Go to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. Quit and relaunch PS.

Hi, I've been having this issue on and off for a while now, sometimes fixed by restarting Photoshop or sometimes not. I've enabled gpu use, and I have plenty of memory available for Photoshop's use. I've also turned on "disable native display" as suggested by some users here to fix somewhat similar issues. I haven't been able to find anyone with my exact problem though. This is rather inconvenient of course when I'm trying to draw (my primary use for this program) and I can't even see what I'm doing because it's all showing up as pixelated white blocks instead of the brush or eraser or whatever it is I'm trying to do. See video below for what I'm talking about- I've just updated to the latest version of Photoshop and am running the latest version of Windows 10 with a RTX 3070 GPU, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, and 32 GB of RAM.

@intelligent_curiosity5C8D Go to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. Quit and relaunch PS.

With the recent update that there is no use older GPU Mode(2016) in my preferences, and the white box becomes black when I have Disable Native Canvas on.

im using a mac laptop with a touchbar that is what the second underpowered GPU is for. Is there a version of this for macs?

I turned this on and undid this.."disabling Preferences -> Performance -> (GPU) Advanced Settings ... -> GPU Compositing." so far it hasnt returned but i have noticed that its not a persistant issue that it happens from time to time so ill write back if it happens again!
