3 major bugs in Photoshop 2023 v 24.1.1

Community Beginner ,

Photoshop 2023 v 24.1.1 has 3 major bugs, and this is not okay when you paying every month for a produkt like this. No problems with Illustrator etc...

Problem 1:

Suddenly no acces to change fonts anymore and getting this message everytime:

Could not complete your request because LoadDeepFontCache in GetDeepFontCache failed.

Problem 2:

When closing down Photoshop everytime it comes up with this message:

Cant write new document presets file.

Problem 3:

Photoshop automatically creates a gude.log file in the folder where the PSD file is located.

Solution:

Well... have tried everything, and follow all the ideas/solution in the community since im  not alone with these problems, but no solution helped.
So had to roll back and now using Photoshop v 22.2 from 2021

And this is not okay at all.
Adobe you really have to focus on these issues.

The gude log issue will be fixed in an update already in the pipeline.

As for the other two, I have never heard of it before (and certainly haven't seen it myself). On the face of it, it sounds like a problem in folder permissions, or perhaps a corrupt install.

A first resort in troubleshooting is always to reset preferences. This returns the application to out of the box factory state. Preferences are prone to corruption because they are rewritten on every application exit. A corrupt prefs file can give the weirdest symptoms.

Another user solved it this way — you might try the same thing:

  • Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Navigate to \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop <version>
  • Delete the CT Font Cache  and FontFeatureCache folder and empty the Recycle Bin

@Superfish

Can you tell us what other solutions you have already tried before you posted here? That way we won't repeat what you've already done.

Hi Jane,

Yes indeed.

I have lived with problem 2 and 3 for a while now , but problem 1 is a major issue since I can’t access my fonts in Photoshop.

So, here’s what I have tried with no luck:

  • Delete the CT Font Cache and FontFeatureCache folder and empty the Recycle Bin.
  • Setting font preview size to none in Photoshop.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Photoshop.
  • Created another user admin account in Windows 11.
  • Tried the Font Test under the help menu in Photoshop. (no error)
  • Reset the Preference file in Photoshop.

This problem is not an issue in other Adobe apps like Illustrator, After FX etc.…

So, I ended up by installed a Photoshop version from 2021 v22.2.0, and no problems with assessing the fonts now.
But this is only a temporary solution since I am losing a lot of new features I’ve been using.

I know Photoshop it’s a big program, but it seems like it’s getting more and more bugs after every update.
I also had the bug with the mouse lag when moving canvas around, it has never been solved, but I found a temporary solution in a forum, and this is really not okay to spend hours searching for solution instead of being productive.

Fixing all the bugs would be the right solution instead of adding more and more features.

Can't argue with that, we all feel that way from time to time.

But still it has to be said that for me, Photoshop has always been rock solid. I haven't seen a crash in many years, literally, I can't even remember when it happened. And I use Photoshop 8 hours a day. I use two machines, one at home and one at work, which I build myself.

Yes, there are minor annoyances along the way, like the gude log thing. But all these minor bugs have always had easy and simple workarounds, and they haven't bothered me much.

However. The thing about bugs is that they tend to happen some of the time to some of the users, under some circumstances. They usually don't happen all the time - if they did, they would have been caught right away. So it's elusive by nature. The best thing you can do is provide as much specific information as possible, steps to reproduce - and do submit crash reports if you get any! That's all the engineers have to go by.

This is the official bug report channel, and problems reported here will get followed up if at all possible.
