Photoshop 2024 is dead in the water for me.
If I open it and work on a file, it gets completely stuck after 30 seconds or so. Showing my desktop reveals a garbage little popup that insits I update to the current version. "Your device is running an old version of Adobe Photoshop. Update to the current version to enjoy etc." See attached.
I just updated PS 2024 to v.25.12 today in hopes that would solve the issue. Nope. Apparently, Adobe allows me to update my version of 2024...but not use it?
I do not want to run 2025 yet. It's 2 weeks old, and I've been burned way too many times before by brand new releases (after 30 years using PS, I know better.)
How do I stop this popup from interfering with my job?

I've just started getting this too, it's really annoying, especially as if I try to upgrade it tells me my hardware (graphics presumably) is not compatible with the newer version!! So I can't upgrade even if I wanted to.
Hope someone fins a fix.

The switch in Apple hardware from intel is going to effect a lot of people also, cc2022 ceasing support feels a bit soon, when there are alternatives for photoshop for many. I was an earlyish adopter to apple silicon and adobe took their sweet time, I've had to run in rosetta in Indesign since 2022 for reasons beyond my control, so to end support feels a bit much.

Adobe still supports Intel Macs with Photoshop 2024 and most likely will continue support for Intel Macs until Apple doesn't support them any longer, which could be the next macOS release, but hopefully not and Intel users will get a few more macOS releases.

Sonoma is ok for 2018ish Macs onwards I think? Its annoying how it creeps up...seems so wasteful.

Support for older graphics cards is being phased out, so there "fix" is to upgrade your computer.

Well, that's not going to happen! And I don't need or want the Gen AI features. You can try them out online, frankly I'm not impressed!

This has nothing to do with AI. Already, Camera RAW won't work with older graphics cards. Period. Just like Microsoft cutrting off support for older PCs.

Most of the upgrade is about AI. Camera raw works fine on my laptop and PS.

But that's won't continue forever. Your words:
"it's really annoying, especially as if I try to upgrade it tells me my hardware (graphics presumably) is not compatible with the newer version!! So I can't upgrade even if I wanted to."

It will, I just keep the old version. No problem.
But all that is off the point, it's a very poor and agressive window to pop up, and poor programming as Creative Cloud already knows it can't update.

Yeah I though it was a bit aggressive, its why I posted, it got my back up, & disrupted work. I think a smaller popup, not an massive alert, instead saying 'cc2022 is not going to be supported after XX date (or whatever), please upgrade if possible, subject to system requirements.'. would have had better clarification. Hopefully it'll stop appearing.

Adobe has been (or not) cutting off activation count resets, access to older installers, activations, and support. Unfortunately its all a bit murky because their messaging has been murky.
However, AFAIK you cannot currently download anything older than the current and one previous versions. Whether and how much Adobe will allow older versions to be used is unknown.
Remember that the industry term "unsupported" can variously mean, "Should work fine but we won't help you with it", "Untested, might work fully or partially, might not" or "Doesn't work and can't be made to work."

I have not had the alert today. so im hoping its 'gone away'?

Yes, started getting it today and its really annoying.
My Mac is a 2015 model, i pay for a monthly photography plan and the mosr recent LR update is now not compatible with my Mac, and the latest PS update gave me a warning that my Mac will struggle with it, so i did not install it.
Cannot find any option to turn it off so as others have said, may be time to look at alternatives to Adobe

What's needed is a "Don't show again" checkbox, but it would already be there if that was the point.

Seriously!!! What they really mean is not update your software, but replace your computer. My computer is working perfectly, thank you very much. I have alot invested in this machine, and I'm not currently in a position to replace it right now.
I've used Photoshop from the very beginning. Have loved every minute of it. However, this is seriously making me consider moving to something else. I will not have such demands made of me every time I open software to work. This is ridiculous.
Am I dissapointed I won't have access to the latest new features because my processors are being phased out? Sure. But, that's my choice (and really my only option right now). So, either allow us to dismiss this insidious message, or I think I speak for many of us when I say... I'm done with you Adobe.

Not only am I only 1 version behind but I was advised by engineers in this very forum to continue using that version until some kinks can be worked out in some features I use.
Professionals paying to use this product all day every day should not be subjected to this. It's amatuerish and for many of us, upgrading is not a user decision, it's a company IT decision.

I'm now on cc2024 (v25.12 photoshop) I was 'up to date' for all of 5mins!, and have this to look forward too again!? Yes exactly, so many of us are tied to 1 or 2 older versions due to business use case. Absolutely agree, Adobe is behaving as if Photoshop is purley a consumer product, (yet expecting bang up to date hardware from their pro-sumer/student/hobby users), I've seen the thread on the 'upselling' window thats popping up for single app/photo plan subbers. I find it embarrassing actually. I'm assuming no pop up via the other apps?

Yeah this is seriously way too much, I'm on v25.12
I don't want to ugrade, every time I do it disrupts work and I have to spend time turning off all the new features that are just plain distracting.

Looks like they updated the Design/tone of the pop-up (pushing that 'ai'). Ridiculous isnt it?

Also annoyed by getting this popup multiple times a day on my PC on V 25.6. I'll install a new version when I see features I need and know that it's stable, not before. Adobe, please stop badgering me everytime I open PS.

I just started getting this today. I am running PS 2024. And I just updated it to v.25.12. But I don't see why they still offer that update since my PS is now effectively bricked until I move to 2025... becauase I can neither click on nor close the popup.
On a multi-monitor Mac setup, the popup is part of the app window, not a seperate window. And when the popup is active, nothing else can be clicked. So if that popup appears adjacent to your active file, it goes way off screen and becomes inaccessible.
It's infuriating. It seems that the more they diddle around with AI stuff, the worse the software gets.

What a nightmare! Did you report it as a bug? Thats beyond being just annoying.
