I'm running Apple macOS Big Sur 11.6.2. I cannot print to my Epson 3880 using Photoshop (2022 or 2021) Manages Colors. PS does print to the 3880 when using printer manages colors. When print is selected the Epson app opens and the spool get to the print stage where the printer is activated for a second then stops and the Epson app disappears. After which I look at the Apples error log which states "Remote host did not accept data file (2)." I have uninstalled and updated Epson 3880 print driver 3x.

I would put the onus on Epson delivering an update to their drivers.
The drivers are just fine. I've got a 3880, runs fine in modern version(s) of Photoshop and OS 12.1.
The issue is the package location where Epson places its profiles (not necessary) and apparently a bug in older versions of OS X and some security settings or the like, with the installed profiles. But the actual print drivers are fine and, there is also the Epson Print Layout software (free) among oth

In my situation .. PS 23.2.0 and Big Sur11.6.2 on an iMac i purchased in July 2021 (problem started after last week's PS update) I can see and choose either the Epson or Red River Paper profiles.
I can only choose / activate Print Settings if I toggle on Printer Manages Color.
If I choose an Epson or RR paper profile and print and have the printer queue window open I see the file enter te queue,, the printer burbles and the bar in the queue window moves back and forth a few times then disappears.
While I can see and select all the Epson and RR paper profiles the ony profie that causes the image to be moved to paper is the Adobe default sRGB IEC61966-2.1 . I'm usin an Epson R2880 printer.
All was working fine until last week when I applied the PS maintenance.

So today I upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey and the problems resolved themselves.
1. Being able to print with vendor icc profiles and
2. Being able to access the Printer Settings without having to stupidly toggle between Photoshop Manages Color and Printer Manages Color.
I can now print using my Red River profilesand can select the Print Settings.
I still need to check with Red River Paper as the results with the default sRGB print profile and the RR Print profiles seem to look pretty darn clos. So want to make sure that under the covers I'm getting the printer profile I want.

Hi Neil, please try the Epson profile tips I described above and let us know the steps you took and the results
I hope this helps

Hi Neil,
I did indeed try the Epson profile tips you mentioned above: manually copying the profiles out of the Epson installer package and placing them in the Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder. While this caused the profiles to become visible in Photoshop I was still not able to select Photoshop Manages Colors when any of these profiles were selected. I also experimented with moving the profiles to my local user ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder and again no luck. Thanks!
Best,
Neil

confused by your answer [see my italics above] - you'd select "Photoshop Manages Color" first - THEN - choose the printer profile in the dropdown menu - does that not work?
What happens when you do that?
I hope this helps

Based on other posts seen on this forum, it’s very important that anyone replying include answers to these questions:
Because a pattern that seems to be emerging across the forums is that some printing issues seem to be happening in macOS 11.6.2 only. If that is confirmed, it helps point to where the problem might be.

Hi Conrad,
As luck would have it, my laptop had not updated the OS 11.6.1 and prints just fine with Photoshop 23.1 and an Epson 9890 (but this time on 2013 Mac Book Pro.) Apple seems to have turned on auto-update on me, that's why I didn't remember an OS change. Also, that OS update didn't seem like a major one. But it certainly was in my case.
The problems were happening with OS 11.6.2, Photoshop 22-23.1, 2014 iMac and an Epson 9890.
I hope this helps Adobe to find a solution (other than use your laptop 😉 )
Thanks!!

If history of issues between Epson, Adobe and Apple are any indication, don't count on it. First, this is clearly partially an Apple OS issue; older and newer OSs are not affected. 2nd, 11.6.2 was a very recent dot release, primarily for security-specific issues which while important, may indicate an 11.6.3 update is iffy since 12.X is out. Epson has a number of recent issues too, their history of addressing this has been as spotty as Apple and Adobe. It may be prudent to either downgrade the OS or upgrade it if possible. But hope springs eternal, it may be fixed but when?

I am seeing this problem it occured immediately after upgrade to 11.6.2 . I have a Pixma Pro 10, have uninstalled all printers and Phtoshop and reinstalled. Tried moving theprofiles around. Nothing seems to solve it at this point.

I can confirm that updating from MacOS Big Sur 11.6.2 to Monterey 12.1 solved this problem for me. None of the other steps listed here did. Thanks!

I'm also at BigSur 11.6.2 and PS 23.2.0 and the problem surfaced on my system with the most recent PS upgrade this past week (approximately 02/16/22)
I think I may go for the upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey once I chat with the folks at Red River Paper. Tomorrow or Tuesday (if they are closed on Presidents Day ) .

I'm having the exact same problem, and am also on MacOS 11.6.2 printing to an Epson p800. Nothing prints from Photoshop, and the print settings dialog is unavailable.
I spent hours on two separate support chats with Adobe, and they had no insights or solutions to offer me... but we deleted all the preferences, reinstalled printer drivers, reinstalled Photoshop (2022, then back to 2021), and everything else that looked like a standard solution all to no avail (so don't bother doing all of that -- it doesn't help). Thank you for at least letting me know it's not me -- that it's some interaction between that specific OS and Photoshop 2021/2022.
My work around for the time being is to place images in an InDesign document, as they print from there with all the paper profiles available... but it's not a convenient or long term solution, to be sure.

Your travails pretty much support my long-held contention (having been a long-suffering systems programmer/unix admin/tech manager) that all of the vendor suggestions to uninstall and reinstall everything every time little junior wets his diaper are to naught and if we rotely followed the vendor sugestions that is all we would ever be doing for the remainder of our careers until management brought in someone to replace us and "fix" the problem.
Since I know that the printer is still working (proven with Adobe) and that the Printer Profiles have not changed and that the drivers have not changed in years and that vendors do not move libraries on point releases for the eff of it that there is no reason to believe that any Preferences have been corrupted (oh, how many times have we heard "it is corrupted, you mustreinstall " back in MS land) the best we can do is to upgrade the OS, whcih we were going to do anyway but holding off lest we introduce additional problems.
Anyway .. your solution seems to be the most workable one and easiest to implement. Thanks for lettng us know your success.

Basically I'm in a similar situation to everyone else. Two weeks ago I moved to OS v11.6.2 on MacBook Pro16 and can now not print. My printer is Epson SC-P800 and I have 4 icc profiles that are now not being recognised. I'm not hot with computers but having worked my way through HD>Library>Printers>Epson>Inkjetprinter2>ICC Profiles I don't see my printer listed - I do however see it in >Inkjet printer2>Support Printers.
I've reset my printing system and then readded my printer; I've also deleted and redownloaded the driver.
I'm using Photoshop 22.5.4 and so far I've resisted uninstall/reinstall: not planning to move to 23.1
Best wishes for the New Year,
Keith.

Hi Keith
Fix 1 (I hope!): I am in the process of making a Time Machine backup so that I can wipe my machine and go back to 11.6.1. I haven't done this before, but there are instructions online. If you have a newer computer than I do, you might try loading the new OS 12.X. Or if you use Time Machine, revert back to 11.6.1.
Workaround 1: I can print 8bit using Epson Print Layout software. As the options are entirely different, I would not expect consistent results to what I was getting when printing from Photoshop. I print 16bit, so it's a not a great option for me.
Workaround 2: Print from a different computer that hasn't updated the OS yet. I have a laptop that hadn't updated, so this is my best solution today. Updating Photoshop 23.1 wasn't a problem.
Fix 2: Wait for Adobe or Apple to figure it out.
Good luck!
Tad

FWIW, you will see no difference printing a 16bit document as 16-bit or 8-bit even if the (older) Epson driver, Mac only, provide those two options. I've measured targets printed both ways, the dE values are invisible differences (well below 1).

It's that OS dot release. Similar reports outside these forums all have that update as the cause that started the failure to print. Roll back if possible or forward to 12.1.

Thanks for replies and suggestions.
I have Time Machine and have thought about rolling back however, if OS12.1 were a solution I'd prefer that. In the meantime I'm waiting a few days.

Yep, There is a bug in Mac OSX Big Sur 11.6.2 in connection with ICC profile use,
Some users have reported success after updating to Monterey, personally I'd be more likely to go back a version rather than jumping into a new OSX version.
I hope this helps

Apple came out with 11.6.3. Does anyone know if this update fixed the problem? I'm installing it now.
I cannot update to Monterey because of the age of my computers. I also wasn't using time machine, so going back means wiping everything.
I've been airdropping files to my laptop and using it as a print server. It is running 11.6.1.
Thanks!

From what I can tell, 11.6.3 did not fix the problem. "Print Settings..." seems to be acting just as it was in 11.6.2 and I don't want to waste any more paper than I already have.
