how to make a circular text box?

New Here ,
Feb 07, 2019 Feb 07, 2019

Good day to all,

This may be an easy question, or maybe I just havent seen it yet.

I want to have a circular text box to write in, I want the words to stop and start a new sentence when it reaches the sides of the circle.. but not vertical writing or path writing.

I hope someone has an idea for me! I know this is possible in indesign, but I dont have that anymore.

Thank you in advance!

Waldo

You’re right, Barb, it’s most likely more than that. Enough, at least, for me to recognize the link to your website.

Ged has it covered, but look for this cursor inside the Shape

Note, you don't need the shape to be visible

You can turn off both fill and stroke, and it will still work as a placeholder.

@grahamb15958644  If you mean "Lorem Ipsum.....etc", it is not Latin but just false text which does not have a meaning. It is designed to be a placeholder until you overwrite it with genuine text. If you prefer, you can turn it off in Preferences > Type by unchecking "Fill New Type Layers with Placeholder Text"

That's what we all thought for years, Dave, until Richard McClintock discovered it is a jumbled passage from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum.

I didn't know that Jane. So it is based on some real text. Mind you with the words jumbled, and some words altered, it is still meaningless so I am going to claim to be half right.  Or am I half wrong? 🙂

That works for me, Dave 😊 ! For four centuries we (collectively) thought it was meaningless filler text until a professor in the Commonwealth of Virginia set us straight just a few years ago.

I just read through this entire thread and laughed at the comments from @Ged_Traynor  (aka "Guest") and @Barb Binder (who I've met at least once or twice, or maybe more.)

@jane-e yourself and @Barb Binder should meet more often, you seem to have a lot in common, anyone would think you are sisters or something 😋
