I lost PSD files icon with Photoshop 23.5.1 update

Hi @CShubert, thanks for the help.

I followed those steps and reset the preferences but there was no solution. I previously did a full uninstall and a clean install and there was no solution either. I need a way to disable thumbnails in Photoshop files (PSD, PSB, etc) somehow. 

In Windows File Explorer I can choose to see all the files as icons but it is not the solution, because in this way I lose thumbnails of all the files that I do want to see, for example. photos, videos, etc. I doubt it's a Windows thing because it only happens with Photoshop...

This is my Photoshop System Info (with my Preferences). I hope this helps to find some clue: 

(It is in Spanish because it is my native language, but if there is any way to change the language of the program momentarily to English I share this info again.)

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back. 

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

I don't know, this is a new PC that I've been using for less than a month and it showed me the thumbnails like this from the start. On my old computer it showed me the classic icon as you mention. 

I don't have anything extra installed, no Windows or Photoshop plugins that might be changing this in this way. I would love to see it again with the classic icon without thumbnails.

Even old files that were created in previous versions and that on the other computer were seen with icons, now it shows them with thumbnails. Could it be something from the new PC, graphics card or something? or a Windows bug?

So in this case, I really don't know why it suddenly disappears like that. I remember I updated PS to the latest version and then a few hours later Windows also asked for an update, so maybe it's a Windows bug? But only in Photoshop... a bit weird.

I am on Windows 11 without thumbnail preview as on your screenshot number 1. I can not recall when using Windows 10 whether there was thumbnail preview for one short time or not, maybe it was but later they removed that feature for sure. 

By default Windows does not support PSD thumbnail preview you must install third party software. How do you get thumbnail preview on screenshot 1? It was some third party software installed? Maybe there is problem.

That generic icon is an attribute of your OS.
