I have been having this annoying problem for several weeks now. None of the solutions on the internet work at all. If this is your first time reading about this problem, these are the solutions I've seen so far (none of them is a real solution, each one causes other problems):

- Uncheck "Use graphics processor" in the performance tab in configuration. Result: It disables the rotating canvas features for Wacom tablets after a couple of minutes or just instantly.

- Check "Deactivate native canvas" and/or "Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)" in technology previews tab. Result: It becomes absurdly lagged, it is useless to work, just moving the canvas makes it go at 1fps.

I also have all my drivers updated (GPU, Windows, Wacom), PS updated, and with priority for the GPU. Is there any real solution for this? I have an RTX 3080 8 GB. This should not happen.

For the last few weeks random white retangles will constanlyly appear when moving things, edditing, and adding effects. I have to hide then unhide the layer to make it go away temporarily. Ive unistalled and reinstalled photoshop and my drivers. Everthing is up to date. I have no clue how to fix this problem. Does anyone have a solutiuon?

Okay so that did seem to get rid of the rectangle problem, but it makes my photoshop almost unbearably laggy and slow. My GPU is a 3060 and isn't even 2 years old so it definitely does not pre-date 2016. Do you have any other possible solutions?

I've seen similar issues on here but the resolution of updating hasn't resolved the issue for me.
I'm getting large white blocks appear on my file when painting (simple brush tool) and further work becomes impossible.
I'm ruinning Photoshop 24.4.1 (latest) on Windows 10 and the latest Nvidia drivers.

My PC has 128GB Ram and an RTX 3090 ti with 24GB Vram. The file I'm working on is REALLY simple and a small filesize.
I used to complete large. complex paintings using a RTX 20260 with 32GB ram with no trouble at all.
Any ideas?

Probably your GPU is causing white blocks to appear. Go to Preferences > Performance untick Use Graphics Processor and restart Ps. If that solves problem try with Preferences > Technology Previews and tick Older GPU Mode (Pre 2016) then restart Ps.

This started in the last two weeks. When I edit certain elements (I haven't noticed a pattern in which ones cause the issue), they are replaced by a white block in the layout and can't be viewed normally until after toggling layer visibility. It's not always text; this is just the most recent example.

The brush tool will randomly create white boxes when used. The boxes will move around and vary in size. The white boxes only seem to appear when the brush is used on certain areas of the canvas, but these areas are completely random. The brush still works, if you save the work even if the white boxes are around, close the image and then open it again then everything that the brush touched has been changed, even if the boxes hid it. Sometimes if you start using the brush without zooming into the image nothing is wrong, but the moment you zoom into the image the white box bug begins.

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” - Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

Hi there

I have the same issue on multiple computers. Your solution does not help to me.
I have one nVidia 1660Super, one 1070 and one 3070. I tried everything and at least swithc of the whole GPU acceleration works, but it is really uncomfortable.
All computers and drivers are up to date. On two computers are Windows11, one running Windows10. The issue is related to last few versions, when I am trying to work in V23, everything is OK. (until it crashes :))
The issue is more often visible, when you use multiple artboards.
For now I am stick to V23 (which is sadly unstable, but at least fast without distracting white rectangles) and I am hopping it will be fixed soon, as I am not the only one who have this issue.

With recent updates to photoshop, I've been experiencing this issue. Whenever I'm in an artboards document and using the brush tool to colour something. I get these graphical white blobs that follow my brush and create these big boxes around my artwork making it really difficult to work. I'm not sure why this is happening. I'm thinking it has to do with performance or optimization settings. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix it, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

While trying to use the eraser or brush tool it will show this white squares and hide everything behind them, as you move the tool the squares get bigger or more of them appear on screen. The squares would disappear if you hide the layer but will appear again when using the tools.

I'm not able to replicate this issue.

Try Preferences > Performance, and take the checkmark on or off of Graphics Prosessor Settings.

You may need to upgrade your graphics processor.

Hello - I'm having an issue on two seperate machines with smart objects. When I paste / drag them into a document, and then try to move them around I get a white square / glitch forming on screen. Like below...

If I turn the layer visibility off then back on it dissapears. But if I move it again it starts straight away.

This happens when i drag them between applications and between documents in pshop.

Hello! I have a large psd file (1.6 GB) with multiple artboards, and I'm running into an issue when painting. When using the brush tool, large blocks of pixels will go white in the area where I'm painting.

Undoing sometimes makes the missing pixels reappear, and redoing causes the stroke to appear without the white blocks. Also, going back over the area with the brush tool reshapes the pixelated chunks, and zooming in or out can make the missing pixels reappear.

I tried the "Reset Preferences on Quit" function in preferences and that seemed to help for a while, but the problem reappeared.

Photoshop is taking up a lot of my computers memory (I'm at 80% memory).

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Do you see the artifacts in the exported image or in Photoshop? Would you mind sharing the version of Photoshop you are using along with you computers operating system?

You can try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, quit and relaunch Photoshop. Please let us know if that helps.
