Hi All,

Apologies for the flashing/strobing you're experiencing when opening files, this tends to affect older graphics cards (GPU) that don't support all of the aspects of DirectX 12.

For Windows:

  1. Update Photoshop to version 24.5 or later
  2. Enable the Older GPU Mode option in Preferences > Technology Previews > “Use Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)"
  3. Check if there's a GPU driver update available and update if so

For macOS:

  1. Update Photoshop to version 24.5 or later
  2. Update to a newer or latest ma

We would like to find out if there are any of you on Windows for whom:

A. Use Older GPU Mode is Checked, and

B. Deactivate Native canvas is Unchecked, and

C. are still experiencing this strobing issue with a GPU that supports DirectX 12?

If so, could you please provide Photoshop's Help > System Info dialog text in this thread?

Bonjour

When I start Photoshop 2023, my screen blinks and flashes all the time and I can't open any archive.  I am an Creative Cloud member and had been using a laptop Assus that has Windows 10 and until download the new version, the program works perfectly.   The Graphic processor is compatible.  Suggestions?  Thank you.

Hi @Lois L

We're aware of this issue & the team is working on a fix.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Technology Previews and enable Deactivate Native Canvas option, then restart Photoshop.

Hello. After I updated my Photoshop to the latest version I am encountering a serious problem, that prevents me from using the application. Hello. After I updated my Photoshop to the latest version I am encountering a serious problem, that prevents me from using the application. Whenever I create a new file to work on, after the ui loads with all the menus and toolbars - the white canvas starts blinking from black to white thus making the use of the application impossible. Also when I switch from full screen to windowed the canvas stops blinking and just turns black. I have attached a gif displaying the problem that occurs.

Hi @efremb3381617

Thanks for your patience.

Please Go to Preferences > Technology Previews and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop.

Does the problem still occur?

We have investigated the error, and it has also been found reproducible on our end. This is acknowledged, and currently, workarounds are available in this discussion: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/p-photoshop-strobes-black-and-white-w...
