Photoshop 2022 Freezes Unexpectedly on Windows 10

The program randomly hangs and does not respond to keystrokes or mouse clicks. No other program on my Windows 10 computer with 32 GB Ram has this problem including Bridge and Camera Raw. The freeze can happen anytime; it does not matter what operation I perform or whether I am using a smart object, adjustment layer or saving. The program randomly freezes. I use Windows Task Manager to end the task. I followed all the advice I could find about checking my graphics card compatibility, allocating more memory, starting the program without the filters loaded, etc, etc and none of those solutions solved the problem.

I may have found something that will helps. Go to Preferences > File Handling. I had the Automatically Save Recovery Information checked and I had it set to save every 10 minutes. I changed the setting to every 1 hour, and the problem did not re-occurred. Usually, for my work, I manually save my file after having done a lot of work, and that usually happens in less than one hour. I then went back and unchecked the Automatically Save Recovery checkbox. After doing that, I exited the program, and then restarted the program. The freeze has not reoccurred. If this change does stop the problem, it probably means that there is a bug in the code that does the automatic backup.

Hi, in Preferences/Plugins, is generator checked? if you do not use it, uncheck the option to try.

Unchecking Generator preference seems to have helped, but freezeups continue. I did not use Photoshop much during holidays, but as of January 1st, I started using it again. I could work on images for an entire day without a freezeup, but then on January 3rd I had one occur. I had another one occur on January 4th. The freezeups are fewer now, but they still occur.

As I have said before, there appears to be a coding error that feels like there is an unitialized variable. Please have your software developers check into this. They should start looking when PS saves something, or writes to a file. Of course this is just a guess on my part, so the developers should not limit their search to these activities.

To help solve the issue in Photoshop, select Help > System Info.

1. In the System Info dialog, click Copy.
2. Attach or copy the info here to this thread. 
3. If there are reproducible/common steps please add them as well.

@Daniel Presedo Ken did share sys info on page 1 of this thread. I wanted to let you know about the Norton program that caused the issue, as you correctly guessed earlier. (Now, I wonder if a system without the 3rd party plug-in would also experience the issue.)

I am having the same issues and they started around January 1st also. I have using the same setup for years, PC, Bridge and Photoshop. Something changed had to change in the software for so many having the same issue.

I think that I have finally discovered why the program freezes. I have been testing the software for more than 2 days now, and have not had a single freeze. The problem is caused by a setting in Norton's protection software. They have a scheme to prevent bad actors from assuming a program uses the same memory location and they attempt to randomize where dll software is loaded. Apparently, this scheme and Photoshop are not compatible. I disabled Norton's protection for this feature and have not had a problem since then. I expect that doing so is low risk.

Attached are two files. One shows the settings and the other shows Norton's descriptions of these settings.

Sadly, I have to report that what I found in Norton 360 did not solve the problem, which came back. Adobe, what is going on? None of my other programs have this problem.

WHAT IS GOING ON !!? 
ive been reading all the 3 pages of this thread .. I have the same problem as @Ken Curtis  .. the program freezes at randome it has Nothing to do with the user . I just want to add in one more thing also it seems the whole program is kindoff bugged cause when i try to use the selection tool.. it seems if im not zoomed in that the selection is off by one pixel and when you zoom in it goes away.. its the same with shapes and overall any borders in the program.
PLEASE fix this as fast as you can !!

Does the performance monitor show high usage for some other software?

Is Photoshop the only soft running when you experience a freeze?

Yes i did also try the newer version,, i went back to older one thinking it might solve it bit it didnt.
there is no high usuage when photoshop freezes and i dont use any background program which does.. and i tried using nothing but photoshop and the same problem accures

first of all what does that have to do with the problem?? 
why dont you guys try actually finding a solution instead of asking side quastions like this..   its not just me that is having this problem . why does it crash randomly? why does it freeze while in the task manager non of my drivers /cpu/disks are even past 10% usuage? 
stop asking so much non snese and answer me that either you are working on it or you were unable to find the problem
