Community Beginner ,
Oct 18, 2015 Oct 18, 2015

Hello,

I use Windows 10 64bit and Photoshop CC 2015 with all latest updates installed. I have an issue when i follow these steps:

If i use Export As or Quick Export and save on Desktop folder then all subfolders on Desktop open in a new window.

Thank you.

The fix from the original poster doesn't work for me, is there something more to it?

I can confirm that this issue still exists.  Just updated Photoshop via Creative Cloud and it reintroduced the bug onto my system.  We'll see if that registry key works again.  BTW, someone could probably write a quick batch file to change the registry key in a single click.  I would, but I don't have the expertise to do it.

For the record, all I did was update Photoshop.  I didn't even open it.

The responsibility taken upon by Adobe is disgraceful. I'm utterly shocked. This bug is very annoying and disruptive to my workflow. Two words - Ignorant and Pathetic. I can't believe people are having to put there system at risk to try resolve this issue themselves.

I'm not sticking up for Adobe (in fact I just cancelled my subscription because of this bug and the many others in photoshop), but they did admit this is a bug back in April (about half way down the first page of this thread)

Hey guys! I just wanted to show you guys my daily productivity!

https://gfycat.com/IllustriousCelebratedCarp

Today marks the day that I have officially given up. I am re-installing Windows 10.

If you ever see me back on this thread after today, then that means I have fallen victim of the infamous Adobe bug once again.

I'm crossing my fingers and everything I got. Wish me luck!

I wish that would help but unfortunately the problem will come back. I have the same issue on 3 different win10 installations and one of these is a fresh one..

good luck anyway!

It won't help. This is an adobe bug. Did you try the fix on page #1, post #15 of this thread? That worked for me (and then run it every time photoshop screws it up again)

I'm back...

Not because I encountered the bug again after a clean install of Windows 10, but because there was just a new Photoshop 2015.5 update... hopefully this fixes the issue?

I don't know, would love to be updated by anybody who has updated with the bug.

I've updated to the new release and it might be slightly better. Some folders have stopped double opening in new Windows but anything opened from within a folder at the desktop path opens a single new window.

This Adobe folder glitch is literally the most mind-boggling bug I've ever

seen.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

So have we figured out whether or not the new update has fixed this bug?

I'm assuming not, but we shall see.

It looked like there was an improvement for me at first but I'm still having issues.

Getting really pissed off with it now. The customer service route has been useless and no one from Adobe has commented here for a while. I'm grateful to others who've come up with a temporary fix but this is not the experience you should be getting from premium software and I feel extremely let down.

Considering applying for a partial refund of my subscription.

Still happening for me too. This is not just a minor bug. This is a bloody disruptive influence to my daily workflow and is incredibly frustrating. In the process of alerting some tech media about this and the ongoing reluctance of Adobe to address this.

BTW, I've updated to the latest version of Photoshop and no improvement for me.

Yup. Just started using multiple Adobe editing programs on a brand new XPS15, including photoshop/premier/aftereffects... and have now started having this issue. Any folder I open in windows explorer via the quick access bar  ANY link in the explorer bar on the left, will open 2 new windows (duplicates) of whatever subfolder I chose.

WTF.

Please fix this Adobe.

(Windows 10, Dell XPS15)

Edit: Things have gotten worse. If I drop down in the explorer pane to the "this PC" tab, and drop open the menu, I now have THREE (3), "my documents". All of which, when selected, open into new windows, all with their own duplicate window bug.

I was mildly annoyed at the duplicate window bug, but now i'm worried. If this bug is altering the "my pc" entries, what else is it doing we can't readily see?

It's very annoying and has been going on so long, I assume Adobe either choose to ignore it or just can't be bothered fixing it.

Either way, I've sent a few emails to some people who are quite interested in taking this further.

Even though I cancelled my subscription and have removed all Adobe software from my machine, my windows installation still remains damaged beyond repair. (The batch script doesn't fix all instances of the problem).

Looks like I'm going to need to reinstall my OS anyway.

This is a pretty huge inconvenience. I feel like Adobe have caused this and continue to cause this through quite a bit of negligence on their end.

It is ridiculous this is still being ignored.

I wonder how long it would take them to take the post down if I was going to post here a link to a cracked version of the suite.

The most frustrating part about this is that it's marked as solved, so they're probably not even checking this thread.

I don't think this is marked as solved as it says at the top an answer hasnt been provided yet. Though I just found this: Photoshop CC Export as desktop folder bug - new thread to raise awareness of this issue

where at least they recognized the issue and said they are working on it.

Not sure how long they need. It was 'recognised' months and months ago. Clearly they just don't give a stuff.

First of all it is extremingly frustrating, shame on you adobe!

2) I got a small workaround that works for me. I Simply add a shortcut to the Downloads folder to my Windows Taskbar. When I open the Downloards folder this way, it does not open multiple windows when I open a subfolder. How? See: Windows 10 Forums

3) Instead of posting here, please POST BUG reports and annoy the crap out of the adobe support team: Feature Request/Bug Report Form or even better, contact adobe directly: Contact Customer Care - always include a link to this thread!
