Photoshop CC 2017 doesn't work on Windows 10

Community Beginner ,
Nov 05, 2016 Nov 05, 2016

Goodevening,

I've just updated my Ps to the latest version. At the beginning it seemed working, but it can't open any files. I've tried to open old psd, a new psd, raw, tiff, jpeg and the result is always the same: nothing happens!

If I try to open the file double clicking on it or with file / open nothing happens. But when I use Lightroom to open a file with Ps it gives me an error: it says that Photoshop CC 2017 can't be started.

I've learn another discussion, saying that unistalling an extension of Google Chrome could solve the problem, but I've nothing install.

How can I solve?

You could first try doing this simple trick:

1) Launch PS2017,

2) Go to: Edit >> Preferences

3) Look for something like in this picture:

2016-11-06_1705.png

4) After clicking on the red boxed item to reset preferences, close Photoshop.

5) Restart photoshop to see if it has fixed anything.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, the cleaner tool did not work for me. No way to start Photoshop 2017 for more than two or three seconds on both of my Windows 10 machines. Lightroom 2015 works fine.

Make sure you have installed the latest Windows 10 device driver for your display adapter. Check the makers for the latest driver available

I've chosen the option to clean all Adobe programs, otherwise it didn't work.

Have you checked that you have the latest Windows 10 Display device driver Installed.  In the device manager expand the display adapters. Right Click on your display adapter and click on properties.  In the properties window click on the Driver tab.  What versioon driver is installed Date and version number should show there.   Is the date recent?

Hello Yes this is not good news. I got the cake and candles out for 25 years of using Adobe Products.  Like many in this forum I have exactly the same issues and more. Never a problem before.   To begin I was getting error code 16 with Photoshop 2017 update. It told me to uninstall and redownload. But NO does not work.  Like many Adobe users I spent hours on live chat of which yesterday and today I was transferred to 3 different department, but no one was able to fix the issue.

On on top of this Dreamweaver won't Install and says there is a Fatal Server Issue...........  etc.   I am running Windows 10Pro Nvidia Quadro HP Workstations Multiple , no disrespect but this is not iPhoto Or the like. At least no one has asked "have you turned on the Power ?"

At Max 2015, Adobe swore on the Saints Bones to make an alliance with Microsoft.  Apple has turned its back on Industry professionals. So please there is no room to Blair the OS or the ever productive Nvidia team.

Please Adobe own up !  Stop lying and admit there is an issue.

I can confirm that I have installed 2017 versions on two machines and they all work fine for me.  Therefore, there must be something peculiar about your system configuration.  Perhaps you could tell us what other programs have you installed and which anti-virus product are you using.  Are you using any other anti-malware programs?  The more info you give the better it is for people to provide further assistance.

I can confirm that I have the same symptoms.  PS CC will not open files by double click.  Ever.  This is on a new computer with no residue from former installations of anything.  I have had nothing but trouble with CC.  Creative Crap.

Its windows 10

Go into settings and check.

There is no default app settings for PS to open raw files, and jpeg files. So double clicking brings up the default "photos" app

Double clicking on an image from File Explorer brings up PS.  It's just that nothing is done with the image.  File > open > imagefile.jpg works fine.  Double clicking on imagefile.jpg brings up PS but does nothing.  From LR - edit in PS brings up PS and loads the image jpg or nef or tiff or whatever.

How does CC 2017 not work? Does CC 2017 crash? If it does look at the crash report and report what the failing module is here.

I have never seen a message  "Photoshop 2017 stoped working, windows is trying to solve problem"

and I do not understand "But there comes any crash report..."

When I see the message "Photoshop 2017 stopped working"  I will use Windows reliability history viewer to see the Photoshop Stopped Working event details by double clicking on the event in the viewer to open the details.  I would suggest you use the viewer and look for Photoshop stopped working  events  and check out what module is failing.

What do your Windows Event Logs say is causing the faulting module?

Lavasofts Web Companion is a known conflict with many Adobe products.  Uninstalling Lavasoft and its related DLL files fixes that.

Or, maybe you need to update your graphics drivers.

I'm having same issue with PS. It keeps crushing and windows' problem details report is pointing to "LavasoftTcpService64.dll". I can't locate this file to remove it, and I have updated my graphics drivers. What do I need to do to get PS working?
