It's back to CGI this week. The Adobe Substance team have released a range of new materials on Substance Source entitled Parametric Cities. These are editable 3D textures designed to make city buildings. They are very clever and opening them in Substance Designer reveals the node networks used to create them. You can read more here: https://magazine.substance3d.com/parametric-cities-a-2021-collection-of-materials/
I decided to give them a try out and, using Blender and Substance Painter, quickly came up with the city scene below.
So now you have this week's scene, what will you make with it?
The “rules”:
To download the image at 3840 x 2560 pixels, with an embedded ICC colour profile (sRGB), hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image – please use the Blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun.

K's romantic couple half eaten by spiders and now drowned.
At first I was thinking that the reflections needed flipping vertically, but are those actally lights shining underwater ?

I was thinking of it as the partially submerged buildings. "Acqua Alta", which I once experienced in Venice, Italy. Unforgettable, not least because of the cost of Gondolas necessary to even get out of our hotel.
Perhaps not as clear a depiction as I hoped.

I like it Chana. It would make a good poster on disability and health.

Haha - I've just spilled my coffee Trevor 🙂
I might have to pinch this as a new avatar, although Norman might have exclusive rights on that.

Dave, I missed a trick there. I should have included LAB Man in the super hero line up. I think Blender Man might beat LAB Man in a test of strength because he has 3D muscles. 😉 I'd be chuffed if you wanted to use the graphic for your avatar btw.
Looking at Norman's graphic, I see that the chest motiff has slightly less subtel warping. They were both displaced, but with tiny values ( 1 and 1 for Blender Man). When it gets down to those tiny numbers the shading has more effect, and I just use the map a couple of times set to Multiply and Screen.
Jacob, are you referring to the person in the line standing behind Blender Man? Are people not allowed to stand in front of other people where you come from, or am I missing something?

Trevor, no it was an answer to the assertion of safety by Jane: even with Its closing Its right eye (I have the only snapshots of Its having both eyes open), it is still there, above the tallest building, behind the line up.

LOL, Trevor! The forums will stay safe from evil forces with Super Heros Lab Man and Blender Man on our side!

It wouldn't be a street scene without them, Dave, so on behalf of the forums, thank you for all the coughing and dropping 😊 !

Jane, several people were talking about the new AI driven Smart Portait tool as if it were the work of the devil on PetaPixel today. It's sad when photographers (the group of Photoshop users who seemed to be making the comments) take themselves so seriously, and I strongly suspect hypocritical as there surely can't be many Photoshop users who have not used it to clean up a portrait to some extent. I'll leave PJs out of that. A PJ at our local paper lost his job a few years for removing a facial blemish from a subject known to him, and which was printed in the paper.
Are the Sneaks online yet? Yep. So what are people's favourite new features?

Sneaks were first up yesterday, @Trevor.Dennis :

You may remember that they are usually the last thing on Tuesday and Adobe has beer for all as we watch, but it was Sneaks with Coffee this year.
I haven't had time to play with the Smart Portrait yet, only the Sky Replacement. It's non-destructive, adding layers and masks and adjustment layers all inside their own group. Plus you can add your own images and use them.
