Something for the Weekend - Part 175 - Building Bridges

Hi

Thanks to all who took part in the our Halloween challenge.

This weekend, I bring you a photo of a bridge in Glen Affric, Scotland which I snapped a few years ago. It is a beautiful part of the world, but a rather ugly concrete and steel structure supporting the bridge. Can you use your Photoshop skills to smarten it up with something more in keeping with the surroundings?

The “rules”:

* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc

* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".

* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

Sorry for that irritation. I wanted to correct the post, but Khoros wouldn't let me.

Monika,

I have never sensed the slightest wisp of irritation in SFTW, except maybe at trying hard to find some (almost) subliminal change to the starter image in an entry.

Everyone here makes mistakes (in writing or in images), and every mistake adds to the pleasure and fun, in some cases causing a bit of banter.

No irritation at all, Monika! I thought it must be German and actually tried to use translate — I didn't see it until I came back a few hours later.

I like your image!

This is more of an irritation! You should be able to edit any of your posts…

Monika, why can't you edit your post here? If you can, hit the HTML button and replace the text with this:

Matching the surroundings is not an option, no?

I do a lot of editing of posts usually, but for some time it has become a pain in the rear. The edit window shows or doesn't at its will. It was just surprinsing that it does this on my laptop as well.

I loaded the source image in Substance Stager, adjusted the perspective and created all those shapes from base shapes. Applied concrete material, rendered it and got it back into Photoshop, where I did the masking. My Photoshop skills are kind of rusty, since I'm mainly using it to adjust screenshots and on top of that it was just me and my laptop on a train (thankfully it was an ICE on German rail network, so at least it was a somewhat smooth ride). I just can't do anything using a trackpad, so sorry for the sloppy masking. I painted some moss on the concrete, but again I don't have a lot of brushes installed on the laptop.

Ah, an infestation of Haggis larvae. Often seen in the Autumnal coolness.

A covered bridge. Very nice Joseph - it'll be handy in the current weather 🙂

That's much more natural looking than the concrete version Jane - and the turkey should be safe over here this weekend 🙂

It appears that Tom Turkey survived Thanksgiving 2022. (I hope!)
