Something for the weekend - Part 177 - Log in!

Community Expert ,
Dec 09, 2022 Dec 09, 2022

Thanks to everyone who took part in our last park bench challenge.

Regulars will know that sometimes we start with a scene and sometimes an object. This week we have the latter, in the form of a Yule-tide log. What can you make with it?

The “rules”:

* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc

* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".

* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right.  Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). I've given you a head start by providing it in PNG format with transparency.

Have fun

Dave

Looks like Fred has upgraded. Doesn't have to move by using his feet. But how would he stop in this one?

There is always a rock solid method for that!

Great idea Trevor - your previous involvement in car development shows here 🙂

I like the top right one. Is it called the melting chocolate log? 🙂

Nice take on the theme Jacob.

Whereabouts is the inn? 🙂

Dean,

Originally the Layer & Mask, or Ye Olde Photoshoppe, it is right here;

Extra points for a past SFTW image. That was before my time. I joined around #40, 🙂

ICYMI: You can access the full SFTW database here and quickly scroll through the history of images with links to the original page. Very handy, now that we know there are extra points rewarded for using a past SFTW image!

Thank you for creating this, J! I used to do a search on my own files, but your database is so much faster!

Haha - another nice use of an older SFTW image and a great combination of the themes Jacob. 🙂

Thank you very much, Dave.

When I suddenly saw the opportunity in the title I was in a great hurry, before anyone else spotted it.

So I am sure it was my second fastest entry, only the first one here being faster,

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/something-for-the-weekend-part-89-loc...

But that was completely different because I had 31 weeks to prepare it and just needed to resize and throw in the new starter image, then upload both images, all done in a few minutes; I believe I managed to post 12 minutes after the OP because I kept running my SFTW search on the great day.

Well Given the Holiday season has begun, I suspect this is the perfect present that any good Beaver family might give at Christmas time.

Wrapping the good presents while the pups are asleep!Wrapping the good presents while the pups are asleep!

Certainly a cool Yule!

Thanks Dean,  Yes Dave I created everything but the ends of the log presents.  Took a bit, but not too long.

Really amazing work Bob. I am impressed by the details, lighting and general story of the image.
And it took you not to long! Wow. Well done.
