Thanks to everyone who took part in our last park bench challenge.
Regulars will know that sometimes we start with a scene and sometimes an object. This week we have the latter, in the form of a Yule-tide log. What can you make with it?
The “rules”:
* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc
* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".
* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.
To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). I've given you a head start by providing it in PNG format with transparency.
When posting back your image – please use the blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun
Dave

Dave did you bookmark the list of past SFTW challenges? I think Sil has it listed on the Community Experts site, so I'll go have a look there.

I like this Nick. It has a nice freehand look that I'd love to be able to emulate. I guessing that you pasted the image directly to the thread rather than use the Image widget. That tends to produce the smaller thumbnail.

I like the style of that Nick. Did you create it in Illustrator?

I think I must read too many of the wrong sort of books, and watch too many similar type of movies, because when I see a rolled up carpet, I imaging there's a body in it. Hmmm... I have even worried myself now!

that's no forest. it's my part of my beachside slope that i'm terracing (and which is under 1-2 feet of snow right now, so i have a one week vacation when i expect the snow to melt and my work to restart.).

The National Yule Log was on The Ellipse just a few hundred yards from the White House until a decade or so ago. A wonderful place to warm up on bitter cold December nights!
Disclosure: I did not take this picture.

Looking at the weather on your side of the Atlantic, that fire might be needed to stay warm Jane 🙂

Oh that's a great idea. I am going borrow that and update for modern times.
Looking at that pile of sawdust reminds me that one of the members of my Menz Shed spends hours on the wood lathe, and sometimes looks to almost that burried in sawdust. I'll try and get a picture next time I see it.

Two great takes on the theme.
Thanks both
