Hi,
Thanks to all those who took part in our last 'cog wheel' challenge.
This week I bring you a Scottish castle. Eilean Donan castle is on in the North West of Scotland and, although it has been there since the 13th century, the castle we see today was actually rebuilt in the early 1900s. It is situated where three sea lochs meet. It is a lovely place to visit at any time, but can you show us what it might look like later in the day when the tide comes in?
The “rules”:
* Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc
* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".
* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only. Sorry to emphasise this, but the image is not for use elsewhere.
To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. I've made the background transparent to save you cutting it out. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image – please use the blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun.
Dave

Just a quick literal take on the brief … lots of areas to improve the image, but this would be my start.

Welcome Rene. You've certainly shown the tide in effect. The reflections are a little bit strong for a rippled sea surface. You might want to consider using Blend If on the reflections layer to restrict where they appear. Something like this:

I realise the mountains need a bit of snow.

Surely, it is a dreamy afterimage, as the lake truly sees it, Dean.

It fits well Dean. As you point out either adding snow to the mountains, or changing the white in the reflections, would help it sit better. Of course it could be a vampire castle that casts no reflection! 🙂

When you hear 'bama fans saying "Roll Tide!" enough times, Dave, it's not so very much of a stretch 🙂 !
After one game their white uniforms were stained with crimson mud and a sports editor coined the term "Crimson Tide". It stuck.
