Something for the Weekend - Part 251 - Lemons and Limes!

Hi,
Thanks to all who submitted images in our previous album cover challenge. There were some great ideas and great covers.

This week we start with 4 simple fruit. You can use one or all of them in creating a new image. The only limit is your imagination, how far can you take it?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • The challenge is not limited to Photoshop. Any Adobe software can be used.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave

You can have all the Photoshop skills in the world, and they'd still be no substitute for true artistic talent and imagination.  This is beautiful.  It's maybe a shame that the lemon slice glasses are not a perfect fit for the image, but they link the image to this week's SFTW brief, so I guess they have to be there.

I went a little further with it with green apples and lettuce. 🙂

It reminds me of Eric Carle's very hungry caterpillar, Jacob. 🙂

I really see what you mean, Dave.

Still puzzling over the imminent hybrid discovery. and which fruit length it may lead to.

I hope everyone clicks to view this full size James.  I couldn't see that nice bevel & emboss till I did that.  It's quite  a nice effect, especially with the texture in the background.  If you have not already got a name for it,  my  vote is to call it 'deckchair blur'.

I made the transparent effect by masking the top part, desaturating it, setting it to screen, adjusting with levels and then warping the open piece of the lime inbetween the desaturated top and normal bottom. (I copied this tutorial that I coincidently watched last week)

I animated it by manipulating the layer mask position in the timeline window (video). I did this by unlocking the mask from the image and then dragging it seperately (so it only moved the mask) while creating the appropriate keyframes. This was all applied to a lime layer copied on top of the layer stack.

Adding fisheye warp to the background behind the transparent part in a layer mask pulled it all together.

Beautiful!
This transparent is a success, thanks for sharing the link 😊

Mmmm... my favourite @Christelle RD   We have a small chain of ice cream parlors open up in NZ, and I'd promised myself a big slice of the lemon meringue pie they had on display. I finally got round to it on my birthday a few weeks ago, and the so called meringue turned out to be squirty cream, and the base was a soft mess that bore no relation to the crunchy cheescake base they had claimed it to be.  It was a major disappointment.  What's more, it had every E-number and preservitive known to man, so I became a eleven ADHD after eating it.

Thank you @Trevor.Dennis!
I love this tart too, except from June to July: during that period, I prefer Clafoutis or Pavlova with fresh apricots.

You must have been really disappointed, especially if it was for your birthday.  I had a look on the bakery link, yes it's very eye catching ... thanks to chemicals. You know, if you really want to treat yourself, the best thing is to make your own cakes. They taste so much better (and don't make you sick), not because you're a great chef, but because you use quality ingredients, and it's such a creative, fun, and relaxing activity. It's been ages since I've been to a bakery; I prefer to make them myself—actually, I enjoy making them as much as I enjoy eating them and at home, everyone's happy like that 😁

Dave, I believe our plucker is just about to discover not only gravity (almost) like Newton did but also a sensational citrus hybridization repetition (maybe a Key lime nearby).

Jacob, I have stolen your idea. This is Vio3 via Firefly and 800 credits. Not great juggling animation, and I had to trim the start and end poinst to get anywhere close to a looping animation.
