Trying to bevel text and shape in Photoshop but it doesn't seem to find the edges of the text/shape.

I'm trying to bevel text and shape in Photoshop but it doen't seem to find the edges of the text/shape, instead it bevels it as a whole, not seperate letters. It looks like it bevels outside of the acctual letters and shape.

Make sure the text layer selected when you're applying the layer style. You can add the layer style separately to the text layer or copy and paste the layer style from another layer to the text layer.

Are the text and shape on separate layers? If they are on one layer, Bevel and other Effects affect the entire layer. Show your Layers panel if you aren't sure.

Is the Type layer combined with another layer in a group or smart object?

Is the file something you created from scratch, or one you found online?
