Hello,

There is an update available for Elements 2022, which fixes the hang on launch issue.

To Update Elements, Request you to please Launch and Close Elements Organizer and leave your system idle, depending on your interent connection speed - the update will be applied automatically and should fix the launch issue for PSE.

In case if the automatic update fails, Please install the update for E2022 manually from Elements Organizer.

Please refer to release notes for more details around E2022.1 Update: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/release-note/update.html

Vipin

If I click on that, I get a message saying it is "loading the workspace." Never happens. No workspace. It just leaves it on this home screen Same with Video editor. Same with Organizer. NOTHING.

I bought Elements in March 2021 from the Apple App Store -- never had a serial number, or box, or DVD, though I do have Apple's own transaction number as proof of purchase.   Now it won't work with Monterey (on Intel silicon MacBookPro), as many others here have found.  But without a serial number, how do I upgrade?  Is the upgrade to Elements 2022 free or is Adobe telling me to fork out another $100 for an app that ran for less than a year?

Mr. Gupt, I take it that there will be no PSE update for those of us using PSE 2021. I just bought mine in September 2022 and it stopped working properly after the October change to Monterey. I have to restart the imac every time I want to use it. I have turned off the imac automatic update for the Monterey OS since I don't dare update to 12.1.

Can you check that uninstalling and reinstalling the application using the installer placed at the below link fixes the issue or not?

Please download the installer from here: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/photoshop-elements-downloads.html

Thanks

Thanks Vipin,

I uninstalled PSE 2021 and reinstalled it with the link you gave.

This does not solve the problem.

I still can only launch PSE 2021 one time.

At the second time, I have to restart my mac.

(Mac with macOS Monterey12.1 and Intel Processor)

Possible to apply the same modifications you apply in PSE 2022 update in PSE 2021 ?

In response to a direct inquiry about code for Apple Silicon, Mr. Gupta replied:

"At this point, we are not planning to release any PSE 2022 update for native M1 support."

Note: both Affinity and Acorn are offered in universal code (Intel or M1). If Macintosh software is only Intel, then it isn't properly "2022" because Apple no longer offers Intel based Macintoshes (other than from inventory of pre 2022 models or refurbishe hardware).

I just upgraded to Elements 22 this week. It worked fine the day I downloaded it and now nothing happens UGH. Same with 21 that's why I upgraded. If I could find a photo editor equivalent (stand alone) without all this extra crap I'd switch in a heart beat

Do you have the latest version of the Monterey OS (12.1)?

Just to update people on here, in conjuction with 12.1 Update from Apple on my Mac, there was an update from Adobe too.  My PSE 2022 now appears to be working fine on my Mac.

Hurrah for that, but I am not going to rush to repurchase PSE 2022 until someone can confirm that it is universal code and not solely Intel. Thanks.

It's nice to write that Adobe is actively working with Apple to solve this issue.

You are in pure communication, followed by no effect.

Meanwhile this problem has been known since late October and there is no solution in sight...
When will this problem be solved ?

Unless they were deaf, dumb, and blind Adobe knew there was a problem long before October.

If you purchase PSE 2022 through the App Store it claims that it works on Monterey 12.1. I have no idea if that is correct because I have found that PSE 2018 and the latest version of Affinity will not run plugins with th App Store version.

It seems that the only solution is to run an older Mac with Big Sur (or older) for 3rd party programs and a brand new Mac for Apple programs!

I've contacted Adobe customer care regarding an issue in which I had purchased PSE 2020 from Adobe, a download version. Several months later I purchased PSE2021 from a third party vendor. When all the mishaps with MacOS 12.1 Monterey surfaced, I had tried restore from backups several times and even reset my MacBook to factory settings and tried re-installing each previous version. And when I tried to go back to reinstall PSE 2021 and was prompted for the registration number and entered it, it came back that the registration number was revoked. I provided this information to Adobe customer care with copies of receipts and the third party vender had sold PSE2021 to several other customers, using the same product registration number.

Thanks for the heads up about  not updating to Monterey 12.1. My imac still has 12.01. I went into Preferences and turned off the automatic update so it won't update to 12.1. From what I saw on the display, it was ready to do that.

I don't understand how they continue to sell the Mac version. They could at least prompt the buyer for the version of the operating system on their computers before allowing the download to start. You know, they could put an advisory saying Photoshop Elements is in the process of resolving compatibility issues with certain versions of Mac OS. They could have you provide an email address for notification when the issue is solved. In the meantime, they've got your money and you have to jump through hoops, needlessly, to get a refund.

Has there been another update on Monterey since  October? I haven't seen anything on my imac suggesting I should update again.
