How to turn off Open Type font features or use Windows Character Map

Hi, I recently bought a font that has tons of  swashes and alternates that I don't want. They can be turned off in Photoshop but I can't find a way to turn them off in Photoshop Elements. I also tried to copy and paste from Windows character map but that didn't work either. 

Does anyone know how this can be done?
