Printing settings change on own

I have elements 14, on windows 10 with an HP Photosmart printer as the default.  The combination has been working fine until today.  Suddenly, the printer setup, that I do before printing, gets changed when I hit print.  It switches to another printer (label printer) from default.  I have downloaded the latest driver, tried other applications (they are fine), rebooted twice.  Nothing works.

Any suggestions??

hatstead, thanks for your reply.  I had resized the image, prior to printing, to less than 4x6.  So, that doesn't appear to be the problem.

    Hi Anthony,

This could be a refresh issue.

Please try out the following solution:

    1. Select the printer

    2. Go to Printer Settings(Change Settings) -> Advanced settings -> Select the paper size(4x6).

    3. Click Ok for "Printer Dialog". Wait for 2-3 seconds so that print screen gets refresh.

    4. Click on OK for "Advanced settings" dialog. Again, Wait for 2-3 seconds so that print screen gets refresh.

    5. Repeat the 2,3,4 step one more time and this will resolve your issue.

    Your feedback is really appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Rahul

Thanks for the reply, rahulj.  The problem I'm having is printing within the editor, not the organizer.  Do you have a suggestion for that?

    Hi Anthony,

Please try out the following solution for editor:

    1. Close the PSE14

    2. Rename "Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 Prefs.psp" file present at "C:\Users\{Current_User}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\14.0\Editor\ " to "Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 Prefs_1.psp".

    3. Launch the Application and It should work fine.

If you need a quick way to restore your preferences, here's a way you can do it using a keyboard shortcut on launch:

Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the Editor button.

    Thanks,

    Rahul

    Rahul,

Thank you, your fix did work.  I was able to get the photo to print on the hp printer.

However, another issue appeared.  I was trying to set the printer to produce a 4x6 print.  I tried making all of the appropriate settings using advanced settings (set the size to 4x6 wherever I found the option).  But, when I clicked OK on those settings, the photo remained on an 8.5x11 size paper.  I tried again and got the same result.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Anthony,

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

With your comments, seems like certain print preferences got corrupted.

Please specify, the issue is with editor or organizer ?

If you are facing the issue with Organizer. Please try out the following solution:

    1. Close the PSE14

    2. Rename "status.dat" file present at "C:\Users\{Current_User}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\14.0\Organizer" to "status_1.dat".

    3. Rename "psa.prf" file present at "C:\Users\{Current_User}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\14.0\Organizer" to "psa_1.prf".

    4. Launch the Application and It should work fine.

If you need a quick way to restore your preferences, here's a way you can do it using a keyboard shortcut on launch:

Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the Organizer button.

Hope this will resolve your problem. Your feedback is really appreciated.
