PSE v8 crashing when outputing to a WMV file

I have got photoshop organiser v8.  When I attempt to output a Project to an *.wmv file it crashes.  Can I reinstall my PSE v8 without corrupting my existing projects?  If so, how do I do it or should I copy my Projects and catalogue to a separate source and then reload my stuff after I have reinstalled PSE v8
