The file is not visible on the canvas.

When you open an image file it appears in the thumbnail layers but does not appear on the canvas. The toolbar is active, but it is as if the image is invisible. I've already done the restoring the original settings but it did not solve the problem. Please how to solve this?

It could be that you have clicked on the visibility icon and so it is switched off.  See this picture to see if you can understand what I mean by visibility icon.
