Dear community,
I am running Premiere Elements 2021 Version 19 20211007.daily.2243969 (which I believe is the last build of this product) and I would be interested in an upgrade to a later version like 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025.
Since I am having a permanent licencse, I am not interested in any kind of subscription.
Can anyone tell me, if I have any options?
Thanks in advance for your help and best regards,
Michael
As far as I know (from other discussions) the versions are completely separate... a new version install ignores the old one
DE-activate your old version and do an uninstall if you only want one version on your computer

The only upgrade option is to 2025, which is a three year subscription.

Oh my!!!
I didn't know that Adobe had switched to a subscription for Premiere Elements

No John! It is not a subscription like used for Premiere Pro, the Lightrooms or Photoshop. It remains a one time purchase for the same traditional pricing. What changed is that Adobe is planning on ending it's use when it is 3 years old and they are making that clear.
Consider what we see on this forum with people trying to make old software work. This new plan has the potential of leading customers toward better support and reliability.
The cup can be have full or half empty.

OK, no ongoing subscription payment... but I would not buy a program with an ending date... not the same category as video editing, but I have a slot machine game I bought that with an EXE dated 08-04-2010 that still runs

It is a one time purchase, but you are purchasing a three year, non-renewable subscription.

It might be that I'm "splitting hairs" but to me a subscription is something I pay for monthly where this one is a single payment for three whole years. You are right that it is not a traditional perpetual licence for indefinite use.
A little sad for me is that the market position of Premiere Elements has changed so much since I started with it on version 9.

I agree. I currently use PE 2021 having previously used PE 14 and am happy with it.
However, when at some stage I can no longer use it (eg PC dies so I cannot derigister the software before installing on a new on - which may anyway not work if Adobe remove the activation servers for "old" versions) then that looks like being the end-of-the-road for Elements for me.
I agree that this is sad as it seems that Adobe is doing their best to kill off the user community.

I have some 'aging' relatives that still use a DVD so v2021 with DVD creation works for me... and I don't understand why Adobe removed that function, which was already proven and working well

I live in a retirement community with 1100 other "old people". A DVD collection of 800 "best" Hollywood movies was donated recently. I've been surprised by how many that say they can't use it because they don't have a DVD player anymore. Even the DVD vending company Redbox shut down this year! On the other hand, Amazon will sell you a Sony "upscaling" DVD player for $40!

I have v2021 which I have upgraded 'internally' to 2021.4 via the menu at the top of the program
If you create a DVD you do NOT want the current version

What does 2021.4 mean? I thought that Version 19 20211007.daily.2243969 would be the latest one?
However, I also checked other upgrade actions and found Adobe Premeiere Elements 2024 upgrade product, which should work with my version?
I do not need DVD creation, but I will also not switch to a version, which only works for 3 years.

I guess what I said wasn't clear... base install is 2021... when clicking HELP and checking for updates inside the program the latest version is 2021.4
The latest update is from December 2021... if you have already done the internal update the function at the bottom of the help screen will not be active

Thanks so far to anyone for helping me in this topic... I have now purchased a serial number for Premiere Elements 2024.
Now I just need to know, if installation routine will detect my old version and offer an upgrade or if I have to remove the old installation first. Does anyone know?
