I am using Premiere Pro 2025 on a home built PC (photo attached for specs)
I use an Adjustment Layer with VR Digital glitch for a short transition between elements on my timeline. While I have been able to successfully apply it to some transitions, beyond a certain point it has been blacking out the program monitor to the point where I cannot continue editing and have to restart. It also often prevents the program from shutting down properly and I can only close it with the task manager.
A few attempts I have already tried to remedy the problem:
- Restarting the program and the PC
- Disabling/deleting unseen clips that are covered by the viz where the transition is needed (on one attempt it turned the image incredibly low-poly with only a select colours before eventually going black again)
- Clearing the Media Cache
- Rendering the timeline (stops/skips the render at the problem area)
A post with a similar problem from 2017 mentioned changing the Project Settings Mercury Playback, but for me the only option available is: Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA)
