Mask tracking zero progress

Hello,

I applied the Gaussian Blur effect on a video clip and used the pen tool to apply a mask around a number plate. I then hit the play button to track the mask as the car moves but the progress bar doesn't show any progress. When I select "Stop" I am then unable to select track again as all the buttons are greyed out.

I'm using M1 Max so I don't think it is an isssue with memory.

Thanks,

I do it manually... from this folder:

%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common

(Paste that line into Explorer - Some my need to unhide that folder)

I just delete these three folders, and do it only when PP is not running.

I have to add, though, that I have to quit and reopen Premiere after I clear the cache.

Interesting point!

When I built my current machine in 2022, I had only m.2 drives. Then the first time I went to backup, I thought, wait... I'm using an m.2 drive to back up to. So, I put in an SSD as a hold stuff drive. But my (sata) spinners are still around, and I keep them on a physical switch, so they only power up when I use them. Then I turn them off again. Same works for most USB drives also.

The correct answer here didn't work for me. But I found something that did work.
1) Check to see if you have a super slow hard drive connected because sometimes the computer will check caches and folders on every drive when you do some things. If you're not needing it for the project, try ejecting it and trying again.
2) If that doesn't help, or if that's not it, try clearing your media cache in Premiere, and try again. That's what did it for me.

@Kevin-Monahan Any updates please, the issue is still persistent even after the latest adobe updates. I have a Mac Studio M1 Max (1TB memory / 64GB RAM)

If it makes anyone feel better, I have the exact same problem on PC (MSI Creator 17). For what it's worth, nesting the clip as another commentor suggested worked for me.

Adobe, how is this STILL a problem?!?

I have the same problem - tracking does not work on one fragment of the sequence. Treatment - creating a subsequence from this fragment and replacing the fragment with this subsequence. Tracking works in it.

"I changed the speed to 200%, then changed it right back to 100% - then I re-ran the mask auto-detect tracking, and it worked."

This worked for me, too!

I found a solution that worked for me.

I made a mask around my subject using 'opacity' so this may differ by effect.

I copied my opacity mask then nested the clip and pasted the mask from the original onto the nested clip. Tracking worked fine and had no issues from there.

Hope this helps someone.
