I have used .MOV files in Premiere for well over a year with no issues until about a week ago I opened the program to find that every shot of my edit had been turned into a green screen with some glitchy lines on it. I tried to use Media Encoder to change the files to MP4 or WMV but in the encoder I have the same exact issue, it just shows a green screen & plays the audio.
- All my footage within the last year now has the same issue, I did not change any camera setttings & these shots all previously had no issues so I knoe it's not that my footage is any different.
- I did not update Premiere, I also tried multiple different older versions & the problem is the same
- I used VLC to convert .MOV to MP4, it converts & plays fine outside of Adobe but once I put the new MP4 version into Premiere, it just turns green again.
- I cannot find a single video or forum post of anyone having this problem.
- I did not alter any of my PC's settings or Adobe project settings, this error just completely came at random. I had used Premiere the day before without issue. I have tried everything I can possibly think of to no avail & I have 3 YouTube channels that I make content for, this error is really hurting me badly. Help would be appreciated! Bless!

Have you chnaged your GPU drivers recently?
Try reinstalling the latest Studio drivers.

Green usually means issues with your gpu
Post OS, comp specs and premiere version and build

If you're using the latest video driver, try rolling back.
If NVIDIA, make sure it's a Studio Driver.

I haven't made any changes to anything, however I did extract a old SSD from my computer from 2020 that was broken & I copied all the files to my external hard drive which is direclty connected to my PC. I have since deleted the entire SSD file, because I am realizing that SSD upload kinda coencides with the errors I am experiecning. I deleted the SSD file, I updated my windows & downloaded the most recent video drivers for my GPU but the problem persist's sadly.

Would you mind sharing one of the files that you are not able to playback? And are there any other types of file formats that are playing back for you as normally expected in Premiere ?

@IanB_360 I found a software called HandBrake that converts my .MOV's to MP4 & they are working now in Adobe. For some reason the other 2 conversion apps I tried before HandBrake weren't working. I also changed my camera to film video into MP4 format (which I should've already done long ago lol) so I shouldn't have any issues moving forward hopefully. Thank you so much for the help!
