Nesting audio not working

When are Adobe going to make it easier to nest audio? I'm pretty sure this used to be possible. For a while I've used a fiddly workaround which has been frustrating but it's worked, but now it's not possible at all. It's really frustrating as it's another thing delaying my professional projects.

The workaround I've been using until now has been to drag in an adjustment layer, make it the same size as the audio, select the adjustment layer with the audio and nest it. Then find this nest in the project panel and bring it in to the timeline before selecting "render and replace". I'm not even sure why this process is so complex, how would anyone know to do that without a tutorial? Even this isn't working anymore.

It would be great if the options when selecting everything and nesting were to nest everything, nest just audio and nest just video.
