P: Unable to freely move clips and audio around on my timeline. Glitch, bug or setting?

If anyone is able to wave a magic wand and help me fix this issue then I would be so very grateful!

I am using Premier pro 25.1 on a windows PC, I opened up my project the other day to start work and I was unable to freely click on a clip and drag the clip about on the timeline with the same thing happening with audio. When I do click on a clip to move or drag it I am presented with the picture I have attached, in my program window.

I have tried everything on nearly every forum page I can find, reset all settings from splash, cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled softwear, new project, everything I can think of but I can't find anything anyway with someone with this same fault.

Thank you if anyone can save me!

I don't agree with that. Compatibility of the HW and OS is vitally important. That's why there are adjustments in your OS.

Had the exact same problem and found the answer on Reddit : If you have a two screens set up, make sure that the scale is the same (100%) on both and the problem goes away. It didn't matter in the past and I spent hours searching for an answer but this worked for me. Hope it will be fixed with an update cause having my laptop screen set to 100% is making everything to small to read...

Hi there guys,

I have been an Adobe Premiere Pro user for about a year and a bit not, was all working just until yesterday when I found that I couldn't actually drag content from the bin to the timeline.

I looked at the patching source stuff but didn't really understand it and it didn't seem to work anyway.

I can actually drag and drop stuff into the timeline from my file explorer but once that is done I cannot move the content I can only cut and delete it.

I have tried so many tutorials but I sstill haven't been able to find the solution and it is severly holding up my workflow and driving me nuts, if anybody is able to help that would be great.

I have provided a video from my phone to show what is going on.

I am open to doing a zoom call and explain further if it helps, it's quite a tricky problem to describe.

I hope you're all going well, keep creating.

Regards,

Jaxon

It works to reduce the display to 100%. But you don't have to accommodate your operating system to have software to work correctly. That sucks.

For the past two days when using new or old Premiere Pro project files I can no longer perform the usual click and drag function to move audio or video on a timeline.
When clicking on video or audio in the timeline the cursor remains in the same place but the video or audio clip automatically jumps further down the timeline. I can move the clip but it is not inline with the cursor and makes editing near impossible.
I have reset settings, uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem persists.

Any help much appreciated.

I can't apply an effect to my video clips on the timeline. I am using dual monitors, and when I open Premiere and edit on the second screen, it works fine, or if I turn off the extended display, it works.

Can anyone help? Since the update, I can't add anything from my project, into my timeline. One in my timeline, I can't slide forward or back, or move up or down to different tracks. I feel like there is a lock somewhere preventing these actions, but don't know where it is!

I have no idea what's going on. Seems like Adobe just keeps running into these glitches and problems.

In premiere, when I drag my clips onto my timeline, they get stuck. I'm an avid Aobe user so i pretty much have tried everything and anything and nothing works. It's like the clips are locked into place or something. When I change my workspace it'll work again for a few seconds then it'll all lock up again. I've tried:
-Restarting the program
-Reset Prefences (Alt+Open)
-Uninstall and reinstall
-Checked for any locked layers
-Toggle Source Patching

Getting a little rediculous now Adobe. Cmon!!

Oh and sometimes it'll only let me drag a clip onto another track, but it does nothing but duplicate that clip in the project bin. What in the world?? Random!

I hope they fix this huge problem very soon because is impossible to set the scaling at the same %, I have a Dell XPS 17 and if I set my screen at 100% everything becomes so tiny, impossible, and the opposite for my external monitor an LG Wide screen, if I set like my laptop the images become huge! So that's not a solution in my opinion.
