Playback lag and dropped frames! AGAIN!!

Community Beginner ,

I'm facing severe lag with playback and of course, dropped frames!

This is not the first time this has happened, usually every 2-3 updates this problem occurs and I have deadlines just like many other people do!

To give you a brief, my hardware:

- 64GB RAM

- RTX 4070

- AMD Ryzen 9 processor

- Windows 11 64bit

- 4k Monitor

- Changing audio hardware input to all options available

- Working off a 5th generation 2TB SSD

I'm using NRAW raw files transcribed using REDCINE X PRO since adobe still doesn't support Nikon raw files. they are 12 bit.

I have already tried the following:

1- Changing audio hardware to no input.

2- Changing codecs (all of them)

3- Playback quaity (all of them)

4- deleted media cache files

5- reinstalled studio driver (and rolled back to previous versions)

NOTHING IS WORKING!! someone please help!

General advice when facing deadlines: do not update.

I would revert to previous version and when project is done update and start fresh.

thank you very much for the helpful reply. Doesn't solve anything. Even the previous version has issues.

What codec are you using in RedCine?

Have you tried using Nikon app to convert from RAW?

What do you mean for this:

2- Changing codecs (all of them) - transcoding source clips to different formats or ?

Also

3- Playback quaity (all of them)

For a baseline, keep everything at Full and High Quality. I've not seen lowering this help perfomance in PP. (AE yes).

I mean the playback codecs in premiere pro (Prores and all its variations). Nothing seems to work except for using proxies. Playback quality (full, 1/2, 1/4)

1) Still curious about have you used the Nikon software and

2) is that an internal SSD? And hopefully not the one that the OS/Programs are on ... nor the cach files ...

<<I mean the playback codecs>>

We don't pick those do we? It's whatever flavor the video asset comes in.

So you're saying plain old ProRes files will not play nice either?
