Premiere pro lagging playback after using After Effects

New Here ,

Hi there, I'm facing quite unique issue, where i was editing animation and putting the AE comp to Premiere Pro timeline via dynamic link. it was hell lagging but i think it is common since AE was never smooth when it comes to long animation. long short story, i jump to another project in Premiere pro, entirely different from this.
but i experience lagging on the software it self, even just to open dropdown menu from the panel.
the video that previously smooth during playback, now lag as hell even after doing some proxy and render and replace.

but it run smoothly when i switch to software only for render and playback.

here are what i have done so far to solve the problem :

- clear the cache
- update my drivers
- change audio setting to no input
- creating proxy
- render and replace
- re-install premiere pro
- change other version
- my SSD space still hugely available.

- re-install windows ( at first was alright back to normal, but after i run AE and render it, it back lagging again )

all of above not solving my problems, i have check as well issue about VFR footage, yet the video that i was editing isnt VFR (checked using MediaInfo)
what should i do? can anyway advice? anyway, here are following specs that i use

Ryzen 9 5900x
Mobo Asrock Steel Legend X570
RAM DDR4 64GB
GPU Intel Arc B580 (currently using 32.0.101.7026 WHQL Certified)
1TB Nvme as Operating system
Premiere Pro Ver. 25.2
Windows 11

Hi @Apple36169148l0ps

Thanks for the message. Welcome to the forums. All of @Warren Heaton's suggestions are worth trying. Can you clarify if you experience lag with both the UI and playback in the other project?  What are your video specs?  Sorry for the frustration, and thanks for reaching out.

While it's great to work with Premiere Pro and After Effects open at the same time, each app can be resource intensive.

For at least one project, I'd try closing out of Premiere Pro when you go to After Effects and then closing out of After Effects when you go back to Premiere Pro.  Instead of importing and inserting Comps into your Premiere Pro Timeline, I'd try rendering the Comps in After Effects so that you have stand alone movies to use in Premiere Pro.  Use Best Settings / High Quality and Best Settings / High Quality with alpha in the After Effects Render Queue.  If you're tight on disk space, customize High Quality to use ProRes 422 LT instead of ProRes 422 and save that custom template as "High Quality LT" so you can quickly use it again later.  Also consider transcoding any source that's not ProRes already to ProRes.

Some other things for Premiere Pro:  double-check in Premiere Pro that your Sequence Video Previews are using ProRes 422 LT (it's the default); in the preferences, try setting the Default Audio Input to "No Input"; in the Timeline, try disabling "Show Duplicate Frame Markers" if it's already showing.
