Production generates "Adobe Premiere Pro Audio Previews"-Folder in Production Folder

Participant ,

Using Production for a weekly format. Set Scratch Disks to a diffrent directory.

Sometimes Premiere creates another "Audio Preview"-folder in the folder of the Production instead of using the one set as Scratch Disk.

Not sure, when exactly this happen. Maybe when exporting a file an some audios needs to be rendered before.

Using PP V24.2.1 on a Mac Studio with M1

Hi Det,

Yes, we're aware of that one; tracking it as DVAPR-4233710.

From our notes:
This is happening because the location that the production settings is pointing to is no longer there, and for some reason the audio preview folder doesn't like it. This doesn't happen with any other settings folders.
The default location in the productions settings will also change to Next to production and place a preview folder outside of the production folder and this is where the actual preview file is placed.

Has there been any resolution to this bug yet?  This just started happening more recently with my projects.  The scratch disk folder that my previews point to is vaild as the project will create new folders within as well as a folder inside the project folder itself.  I don't want the preview folders in my project folders, that's why I change it in scratch disks.

This has been going on for years. I haven't bothered to report this for years because it doesn't impede actual work but it is annoying.

I have an external Scratch Drive that is operational and project settings all point to it without issue. Nevertheless, many, though not all projects will open up an audio previews folder beside the project file, regardless.

Adobe, take all your programmers away from 'new features' projects and fix this and any other outstanding bugs that have been extent for more than 24 months.  A lot of users, though perhaps not the majority, have separate drives for speed, storage, organization optimization. I know this complicates things but it is a necessity for many. All bugs related to these kinds of workflows need to be prioritized higher for fixing.

I thank you for finally fixing the media relinking code. That used to be a real nightmare but works pretty smoothly nowadays.

Hey what's up.

Just applied the hidden folder command in terminal.

To create a hidden folder on a Mac using the Terminal, you can do the following:

  1. Open a Terminal window
  2. Type chflags hidden
  3. Press the space key
  4. Drag the folder you want to hide from the Finder and drop it into the Terminal window
  5. Press Enter

It disappeared, but only time will tell.

Hola Bruce,

I'm also seeing this in a standalone project on LucidLink. I'm pointing Scratch Disks to a "z_Scratch Disks" folder; but Premiere keeps creating an "Adobe Premiere Pro Audio Previews" folder in the same folder as the project.

Ha!  They'd be in development for half a decade if they did that.

If you're seeing that behavior without Productions involved, then you're seeing a different issue than Det originally reported.

Can you provide steps to follow, which reliably reproduce the issue you're seeing?
