After updating to Sonoma 14.6.1 playback of red camera footage is no longer smooth.
There seems to be a frame freeze for a split second at the end of each clip right before transition to the next clip during playback on the timeline.
I have tried resetting all settings in Premiere and restarting the computer but the problem is if anything worse afterwards.
I have tried turning off hardware acceleration from the seetings>media>enable hardware acceleration.
I had no issues before updating the operating system.
Apple M1 MAX Macbook pro with 64GB ram.
It is currently impossible to edit with this issue and I have deadlines to meet.
Hi @Tehben - Do you have any third party plugins installed? Can you check and see if you experience the same issue with the beta of Premiere Pro. You can find it in the all apps tab at the bottom of the page in the creative cloud desktop app. Thank you.

UPDATE: I've never needed to in the past but I just realized I can render the timeline to get smooth playback and get around the issue for now.

Hi @Tehben - what plugins and version are you using? Can you try going to the "effects" panel and click the hamburger menu, there will be a manage third party effects at the bottom of the menu. Try disabling there and let us know if that helps.

The only plugin I have is Filmconvert Nitrate and disabling it does not fix the problem.
Premiere does not show up under the Beta tab in the adobe cloud app.

Can you check your settings > media and make sure the check box is set to "Enable hardware decoding".
Do you have any panels open, if so can you try closing them. Can you post a screen recording so that we can see your issue.

Does this happen on all workspaces or just one? Can you try going to Workspaces and select reset saved workspace
Can you try holding shift while opening premiere and check the box that says reset media cache.

I'm having issues as well with playback since updating to Sonoma 14.6.1
I got a new (refurbished) Macbook Pro M2 16gb, I don't know what version OS it came with but I edited an entire project without issue on PP.
Prior to this I had the exact same spec Macbook pro M2 from a company and Sonoma 14.3 was on it and it was fine. I edited plenty of projects, same camera, same settings, same template starter file.
On this new sonoma 14.6.1 I opened up the same projects I edited right before the forced update and playback glitches often becoming unusable and I have to close the app and re-open. I'm also having playback issues in Davinci Resolve though I don't have experience with Davincie resolve on any other device or macOS.

I'm having the same issue with files that are 1080@ 59.94, mp4. On an m1 max with 64GB of RAM. On Sonoma 14.6.1 and Premiere 24.6.1. Can't scrub through my file. Too much lag and takes too long to update the program monitor. However, v23.6.9 has no issues with this.

Apple M1 Ultra - 128GB memory - Sonoma 14.6.1 - Any solutions yet? I've tried everything here. The diagnostics told me to upgrade to Premiere 24.6.3. No change. Is Premiere 25 worth trying, or would it better to roll back? Ventura and Premiere 23 were really stable :o.

Forgot to say that my workaround is to create a new project and import the latest sequence from the previous project. Seems to last for a half a day or so before I have to do that again.
