I continue to be stupefied by Adobe's lack of support. You can pay this company almost a $100/month and still get shafted. I just shot a 22-minute video and when importing, it shows up as 5 seconds. Yes. 5 seconds. I'm attempting to use HandBreak to solve this issue but to me this is just unacceptable, Adobe.
Moderator note: I branched your thread from a legacy post and placed it in the main forum. I also changed the title.

I fully agree with the anger at adobe's ignorace . We pay as well a super high fee for a, so called, enterprise-support.... and get nothing since 4 weeks.....
So, I as well, would be interested what fileformat and codec you are using.... but more .... where do you store these files ?
On a networkshare (server)?
I'm asking , because , as I found out , it looks like PremierPro is checking the duration by counting the frames inside the file during import, as well as checking the amount of audiosamples.
That , as I suppose, is done until either the end-of-file OR, if something indicates that there is the end .... for example if there is a micro-timeout in reading ...either because of networking issues , or, in case adobe reads direct from the windows-cache .
In any case ... we would be very interested ... if you could provide some information about your infrastructure... so we maybe can find a workaround by ourself... adobe will not be helpfull..... and as soon a we have everything stable we definitely will quit the supportcontract .

I having the exact same problem. i tried EVERYTHING! WTF?!
i have 3 videos from my iPhone and another 3 videos from another iPhone. all at around 20 minutes each. they all import just fine except for one which shows up as a 5:01 second file.
i tried to re-export from Photos, i tried starting a completely new premiere session with nothing in it. dropped and dragged the video in and still...5:01 seconds. i have 30 gig of space on my hard drive no other apps open.

iPhone video is almost always VFR ... variable frame rate ... which doesn't play well in NLEs. Have you tried using ShutterEncoder or HandBrake to modify those files to CFR?

thanks for chiming in and helping!
i used Filmic Pro to record the videos and the one in question is the exact same as the other five videos that work fine.
i tried media encoder and it exported at 5 seconds as well. man, is this ever frustrating.

i don't have SudderEncoder nor HandBrake. guess I'll have to try those. i think i'm going to just capture my screen.

By @freakyrandy
That may result in Variable Frame Rate video, which most capture apps use, and may need to be transcoded for Premier Pro to use it properly.

I checked it with MediaInfo and it says it's CFR. now what?

dang it! i accidently read that wrong. the audio was CBR but the video is VBR. and in my last reply i put CFR instead of CBR. can't a person delete or edit a comment on here? geez.

You want CFR.
VBR is OK.

Did you solve it? If yes, how?
I have a similar problem for all my Videos. Either it is not starting to import or this 5:01 seconds error problem occurs. This problem is also for already used video materials from the past. So I assume the problem is not the video, but Adobe! Means, I cannot import any Video.
Additionally, Premiere Pro is crashing all the time.

Or the problem is due to the format or codec not working well in Premiere.
So in great detail, what created the clips, what is the format/codec, and framerate and size are needed.

It would be very weird if the problem is video, because I can play it on my Macbook as .mov and .mp4. Furthermore, I did it in the past 5 months in the same way and never had this issue.
Here are the technical details:
Container: QuickTime (.mov)
Codec: HEVC, 8-bit
Resolution: 2160 x 3840
Frame rate: 24 fps (likely 23.976 or 24.00 fps depending on Filmic Pro settings)
Audio: 48 kHz, stereo
Color Profile: HD (1-1-1)
Bit Depth: 8-bit
Transfer method: AirDrop
Thanks in advance!

Additional information:
In the meantime I got it to import another screenrecording. It took a longer time than usual (importing process). When I wanted to try the same for the other videos, my Premiere Pro crashes. The CPU utilization get very fast very high...
I edited more than 60 Videos before, all the same, also videos with more memory and I worked without any problems.
